Question: Does fish oil REALLY help alleviate depression!?

I haven't tried it myself but I'd like to once I can afford it!. I've read a book called "The Makers Diet" and in it Jordan explains that people who live in Iceland need this oil because of the challenges of harsh weather and long seasons of darkness!. He also says that getting plenty of sun helps with depression!. St!. Johns Wort isn't supposed to be taken by people with certain types of depression like Manic Depression!.

It works for some, not for others!. There's a fair amount of research supporting that 1-2 grams of the EPA ingredient does help alleviate depression!. A lot of ppl who say it doesn't help are not taking anywhere near this dose!.

Here's a recent study concluding that it's as effective as low dose Prozac!. (PubMed is the National Institute of Health's repository of peer reviewed scientific research!. It's not flaky Internet advertisement claims!.)

I've been taking fish oil for about 6 months and yes I think it does alleviate depression!. Other things to consider are brain foods since depression seems to offset your mental capacity!. Try vitamin C, green tea, a balance of protein (meats, nuts, etc), stay away from burgers/frieds etc and exercise even if just a walk!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Omega oils are essential for heart and brain function!. It is far stretching to think this would help alleviate depression!. If you are looking for a natural herb for depression try St!. John's Wart!. You will not feel the effects for about 8 weeks because it has to build up in your system and remember if you go to the Dr!. for anything make sure to tell them you taking it because it can react with other drugs!. I also agree it is good for brain function,but if there is a mood disorder you would need to address that,by medication serotonin enhancer and i found 5-HTP to be a good supplement but if can not be mixed with other antidepressant!.i would find a good doctor,but i would continue omega unless there is a interaction!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i take it and i dont think it helps my depression, but it really helps clear up my acne =]!.!.!.it culd work for u tho since everyone is different

well I take omega 3 but it could possibly help!.!.!.!.I also take oil of evening primrose!.!.!.and have done for many years!.!.!.and I find it really good for your well being and it does lift depression!.!.!.!.try it!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
