Answers:
Yes, they do what they are made to do!.

HOWEVER, you need to understand what they are made to do!. They are NOT happy pills!.

If your depression is chemical, this means (most of the time) that your brain does not pick up on signals sent to it that tell it to feel well/happy!. Specifically, the brain neurotransmitter called serotonin gets to where it is going, but the receptor cells don't pick it up very quickly!. By the time they get around to picking it up, it has been swept away by our body's recycle cells called reuptake cells!.

The most common antidepressants work to slow the recycle system!. They "inhibit" the reuptake cells!. These drugs are called SSRI's!. They are Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors!.

Bottom line!? They do allow more serotonin to get where it was going and allow you to feel more relaxed, better, and not so "glass is half empty"!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hm!. It really depends on a lot of different variables!. Chemical imbalance, and difficult circumstances all can be the onset of depression!. With those types of issues, there are alternative ways of getting treatment!.

So, antidepressants work for some!. You go up gradually over time until you find the correct dosage for your serotonin levels!.

For me!? It helped a bit, but in correlation with therapy I learned how to cope in healthier manners!. It all depends on if you're growing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes they do!. I know it's hard to believe, I had no belief in those either!. I had (still HAVE) social anxiety disorder!. I start to take a med and it made me worse!. I went to another doctor and she gave some other pills!. They worked very well!. She had told me I shoula take the pills for 6 months even if I feel okay!. I didn't listen her word and quit the pills and now I start to have panic attacks&agoraphobia again!. Just because I did not trust and listen my doctor!. I'll tell you what my doctor told me:

"You should trust your doctor!. If you're not going to listen him, why are you going to him anyway!?"

Good luck! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
