Do you believe some people have anxiety disorder because they want to?!

Question: Do you believe some people have anxiety disorder because they want to!?
That's what my family is telling me!. I've always been shy near new people I met, I always got nervous enough to nt be able to sleep when I start a new school and job!. Then 3 years ago I've been diagnosed anxiety disorder, I was and still am a little agoraphobic!.

But my family thinks, I have anxiety disorder because I knew what anxiety disorder was!. And I led my usual tension to a disorder, like a hypochondriac!. Because by their words, I went to school by myself for 17 years, I worked for a year, I stayed at my friends's houses and now I can't go out like I used to - that's not possible!. Do you think it may be true!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like your family needs to start believing that maybe a little kindness and thoughtfulness on their part might be helpful!. It's really difficult in today's society to try to function when you're afraid!. I have anxiety and in the past 3 years I've developed agoraphobia!. I find I have to push myself to go outside; to go to the store; to go anywhere!. No one would want this as a problem!. Maybe your family needs to all go to counseling and discuss everyone's problems!. I'm sure some of them have worst problems than you!. It might help!. Also, try a counseling group, talk to other people with the same symptoms!. You are not alone!.

Nobody chooses to have an anxiety disorder!. When you are anxious there are ways to lessen the anxiety with self-talk, same as intensifying the anxiety with dysfunctional self talk!. Your family just doesn't understand how anxiety disorders work!. There are great self-help books that you can get to implement some strategies to help lessen your anxiety!. Families conveniently are frequently in denial because that is the easiest coping mechanism to accept!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes, i believe so!. I don't know too much about it, but i feel they may do it on purpose!. I'm not sayiing you are, but people i know will read about some disorder, and then they will start doing the symptoms after they read about it!. It might just be an attention thing!. I'm not saying you are doing that though cuz i don't know you, but i know some people personally who has done that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, I don't!. I just think your parents don't understand the disorder!. Perhaps join a forum for people who suffer with anxiety disorders who you can relate to!. Also, have you had any therapy to help you to go out more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No no one wants to be cripled by anxiety disorder!. That is just narrow minded and cruel for them to say that to you!. Not to mention ignorant!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No it's not true!. Nobody wants anxiety!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

NO!. (yes, people can pretend) but it does not sound as if you are pretending AND, from what you have written here, it sounds as if you may have a bit of Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder and if you are having trouble going out as you once did, you also may be Bi-Polar!. There are tests that your doctor can do to find out if you have these other disorders!. Just ask him/her to do the test!.
You did not really offer much information and did not say what medications you are taking for this either!.
Other People much of the time DO NOT understand exactly what anxiety disorder is or how it makes a person feel!. When they do not understand, they find ways to criticize and condemn the one who has it -Thus, only making for more anxiety on the person who has it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I believe some people MAKE themselves nerve out about things!. I've struggled with anxiety issues ever since I was a little girl!. I'm 20 now, and it's always been bad!. I'll get nervous and stressed about the smallest things!. Like, for example, going to run an errand or pick a few things up at the store!. I know exactly where i'm going, and exactly what i'll be doing!.!. but my nerves will go CRAZY!. Some of my family members don't get it, and they believe it's all in my head!.!. which it is!.!. but it's uncontrollable!. I'll freak out about something even when I wasn't even thinking about it a minute before, if that makes any sense!. I guess I first started having issues with it when I was around 6 or 7!. I remember in the beginning, I would make my stomach hurt so I could go home from school!.!. just so I wouldn't have to deal with something that would nerve me out or stress me out!. Just random stuff!. Then, as I got older, it got worse and worse!. I'll sometimes make myself sick (not on purpose!), but just because it gets so hard to deal with!. And talk about being agoraphobic, oh my goodness!.!. I would rather be hooked up to an IV than go shopping at Christmas time!. I just don't do well with crowds!. I hate it when people are in my space and walk too close to me or behind me and get in my way!.!. ohh!.!. so stressful!. Being on the roads is crazy!. If I don't know where i'm going, forget it!. You either give me INCREDIBLE directions or it's a no go!. Then again, even if I know where i'm going, i'll go over the directions atleast a hundred times in my mind over and over again just to make sure!.

It definitely creates drama in every day life!.!. either with myself or others around me!. My family doesn't get it, but they deal with it!.!. because i'm an adult and I can take care of myself so they have to accept it!. But yes, I do believe SOME people have anxiety issues because they just flat out want to!. Kids and adults!. A few close friends of mine think they ought to see the doctor about their "issues"!.!. but I know it's because they make themselves have the issues at random times!. Who knows!. It's such a weird disorder!. Thank God i'm a homebody, otherwise I would be probably going crazy with depression and who knows what else!. I enjoy being in my safe little home, rather than go out and challenge the world at times and get myself all into a tizz for something sometimes so small!. It's ridiculous!. Good question!Www@Answer-Health@Com
