Question: What are the chances that my counselor will tell my mom if I tell him/her about my!.!.!.!?
!.!.!.!.former eating disorder!. I'm going to see a counselor for depression soon!. I know they're supposed to tell your parents if they suspect you are a danger to yourself, and I'm not a danger to myself!.!.!.anymore!. Will he/she tell my parents!? Is it a probably or probably not!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

A counselor is required to tell your parents or authorities if you will be a danger to yourself!. If you are over an eating disorder, you aren't a danger to yourself any longer!. Even if you relapse into the eating disorder, the danger to your life would be a bit down the road!.

They should nt, it is confidential, they will beg you to tell them and ask you if you want them too!.
This happened to me a few months ago actually!. The school found out I was suicidal!.!.!.I ahve NO idea how some annoymous person told tthem!.!.!.grr
But the counselor asked me if I wanted her to tell y parents, stupidly I said yes, I was just so confused because this was all happening so fast!.
But no, they should NOT tell!. Just spend time talking with them for a while and eventually if you want your parents to know tell them!. but not all parents are supportive, mine weren't really!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on how old you are!.
There is a thing called patient confidentiality which means what you say stays with you and the counselor!.
If you are really young though i'm not sure if your parents have rights to know things or not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Why don't you clarify this with your doctor prior to disclosing any info you want protected!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
