Do I have a panic disorder or is this temporary?!

Question: Do I have a panic disorder or is this temporary!?
For the past month, I have developed nervous habits that I never had before!. Last month, I was very stressed out!. A family member that was close to me died, I was stressed out with academics, and my boyfriend, whom I loved, broke up with me and said he no longer wants to speak to me because I was sad and it was affecting his mood!.

Sometimes when I see my ex or his friends walking around school I start feeling nervous!. My heart races and I get short of breath!. Then I start feeling really depressed!. Sometimes nauseous!. I have became a little avoidant towards my friends!. I'm spend more time in my dorm room because I am scared that I may affect my friends the same way I affected my ex boyfriend and they will leave me too!.

I am seeing a counselor on campus for the first time!. So far the talk sessions have been helping but I am scared to tell them everything because I'm scared to be put on meds or be diagnosed with a mental illness!.

Do you think these feelings might be temporary!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Definitely temporary! Don't be so hard on yourself, you sound like you have been through a fair amount of stress lately!. The panic/anxiety feelings will subside with time, in the meantime, please don't feel like there is something wrong with you as these feelings are perfectly normal!. A lot of ppl go through what you are experiencing!.

I would suggest to keep seeing your councellor and to tell them everything!. Remember that you will only be offered meds, its your decision to go on them!. I personally believe that most ppl can get through rough patches (like yours) without meds!. Instead, go herbal and start some fish oil and protein shakes to soothe your stressed out nervous system!. It really does work!.

I dont think you have a mental illness, i think that you have been through a really horrible period in your life and you just need time to get through it!. Things always get better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your not mental, but even if the doctor says you are do NOT let them put you on meds!!!!! The're horrible and make you worse than you started!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's very high possibly something temporary!. Okay, you're having panic attacks but that does NOT mean you have a panic disorder - everyone has panic attacks sometimes!. Even little kids have panic attacks before they go on stage or go to a friend's birthday!.

Also, panic disorder, depression and things like that are not really mental illness!. They are "disorders"!. Did you know every 1 person out of three has/had anxiety disorder!? In big cities the rate is even higher!. Needless to say, in today's world depression is something like the flu!. Everyone experience it a few times in their lives!. You're definetely not alone!. And no doctor can force you to take meds!. They can just advice it if you need!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
