Celexa and Zoloft?!

Question: Celexa and Zoloft!?
If you're taking 100 mg of Zoloft, is it O!.K!. to add an occasional 20 mg of Celexa during really bad days!? They're essentially the same type of selective seratonin reuptake inhibitors (though Celexa claims to be working 'differently')!. What complications could you have with that!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
This is something to talk over with a doctor:

1!. Serotonin syndrome - two SSRIs taken together!.
2!. Side-effects attributable to the Celexa!.
3!. Combination adverse effects!.
4!. Each change in SSRI dose has the potential to cause severe reactions - that's a change 'down' OR a change 'up' - which is why the literature that came with the drug states that every dose change should be carefully monitored!. By taking an every-so-often dose of Celexa the effective overall dose of SSRIs is 'upped', then 'downed' as it is metabolised out of the body!. Roller-coaster!. Dose-related side-effects, possible withdrawal effects as the Celexa is washed out of the body over the next few days!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No you should NEVER take two SRI 'antidepressants' without having ONE psychiatrist prescribe them both to you, with instructions on how to take them!. I won't day a psychiatrist won't do that, but I do know that most won't unless the patient has been tried on ALL of the SRIs singly with NO change in the depression!. Sorry!. YOU COULD DIE is the 'complications' if you try to take these two drugs together without ONE psychiatrist balancing the doses, etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should remember, medications for depression/anxiety problems are meant to be an everyday pill, they are not usefull as a "one day" pill, such as xanax, which is a instant relief medication!. And you should never Mix pills unless prescribed directly by your dr, and always take what your dr tells you to take and nothing else!.
hope this worksWww@Answer-Health@Com

each drug is different!. Dont' mix drugs!. It's like taking augmentin and amoxicillan!. They're both antibiotics, but you don't mix them and you don't take them at the same time!. Follow you doctor's instructions on antidepressants!. Stopping and starting should be monitored!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wouldn't do it, firstly because SSRI's work over a long period of time (It's not a drug where you take it and instantly get relief, or even get relief within 24 hours), and secondly because it could cause serotonin syndrome!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

check out the internet and talk with your psychiatrist before you try anything of that sort!. Doing so you may result in amplifying sideeffectsWww@Answer-Health@Com
