Answers:
Lying and bipolarism do not go hand in hand!. Don't let your friend use it as an excuse to justify lying!. And ya might consider checking out your friends, better, too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

People who have bipolar disorder have episodes of mania (no need for sleep, increase in activities, more racing thoughts, irritability/ feeling on top of the world, which can move into psychosis ( a separation from reality -- like believing that one is the best musician in the world, even though one has never played an instrument before)) and episodes of depression (poor interests, no drive, feel helpless/hopeless, suicidal thoughts)!. These occur every couple of years if not treated!.

Lying is a behavior associated with avoiding short term pain (often shame)!. If you lie, you don't have to suffer the immediate consequences of your actions (which often works in the short term and destroys relationships in the long term)!. Regardless of the cause of the lying (and I doubt it is bipolar), the behavior itself tends to weaken relationships and cause distrust!. We all occasionally will lie, but when it becomes a frequent behavior, or about bigger things it tends to destroy trust!.
It makes sense that if someone frequently lies to you, that it is a habit they are used to doing in order to cope effectively with life!. People only change habits when there are negative consequences!. If he loses enough relationships through lying he may change, he may not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bi polar is a mental disorder!. you will find he doesn't mean it it is an awful illness they manly believe what they are telling you don't be judgmental, try to get him to take him medicine and he will be fine

it is a bit like schizophrenia this is why it is important for people with this disorder to keep taking their medicine!. due to chemical imbalance is why they are like the way they are!. sometimes the body stops producing dopamine at this is the outcome of that chemical imbalanceWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, there is an association between lying and being bi-polar!. They may lie out of fear, for attention, loss of self control, hallucinations, or their brain chemistry!. A lot of individuals that are bipolar realize this and will use then mental disease as an excuse to why they lied!. I have experienced it first had!.

I think more often than not, someone who is bipolar just uses his disease as an excuse to lie and his loved ones enable him by letting him get away with it!.!.!. so they continue to lie!. If you fall for his excuse, you are encouraging him to like more often!.

However, I am not saying that all or even most people with a bipolar disorder lie!.!.!. I am just trying to explain about the ones that do lie!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bipolar Disorder has nothing to do with lieing, take it from somone who knows and suffers from Bipolar!. Lieing falls more into Histrionic Personality Disorder!. These people like to get attention so have the tendency to lie!. I hope this helps you a little and if you want to know more about Personality Disorders there is plenty of information on the net!. Good Luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

lying has nothing to do with bipolar!. Maybe thats just part of who he is, not the illness!. Get rid of him if he cant seem to tell you the truth, seems like hes got you fooled anyways!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have bi polar and when I manic and want something I will tell lies to get what I want!. But when i am on an even keel, I am not a lier!. Don't judge everyone by what your boyfriend is going through!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I never noticed bi-polar people being more likely to lie than other people (some do, some don't)!.!.!.maybe he's really a compulsive liar and is lying about being bi-polar! Or could be he's a compulsive liar AND bi-polar!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
