What do you do if you think you are blocking something out?!

Question: What do you do if you think you are blocking something out!?
like what if you really feel like something happened to you, a long time ago, but you might be suppressing it!?
i'm almost positive something did!. something bad that i blocked out!. but i don't know how to make it surface!.
i feel like it may have to do with child molestation!. i'm scared to know, but it's itching at my brain and driving me CRAZY!.
can a psychiatrist help with this!? i know hypnotism might do something, but i am not so into that!. i'd rather remember on my own, i just don't know how!. maybe retracing my life steps!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

My personal experience and in working with people who have been abused is that is the memory really isn't there, then there is no need to try to bring it up!. I believe that God made our brains able to forget extremely stressful and painful circumstances to protect us and when we are ready (really ready!.!.!. not just that we think we are ready) they will surface on their own!. Most people have enough to deal with thinking about the stuff that they DO remember!
More often you know that something happened, have memory of it but you don't want to think about it!. In that case I would recommend that you see a counselor to help you!. Look for a professional counselor (not a psychiatrist as they generally only give medicine) or a marriage and family therapist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am a provisionally licensed mental health practitioner and alcohol and drug addiction counselor!. I would suggest that you find a therapist!. You can get into the unconsious without hypnosis by certain kinds of therapy!. If you were supressing something yuo probably wouldn't be aware of it though!. Much more info is needed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go to a psychiatrist!. Or just think about it really hard!. But I'd go with the psychiatrist!. They know how to "unlock" your brain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
