I was an AA member for many years; I have been sober for nearly 10 years!. Speaking from personal experience, I doubt that you will feel awkward in AA being a young female, at least not the way you think!. There is a stereotype that AA is all old men, but that's not true!.

What you will more likely find is that being a young female means that you will be hit upon within an inch of your life by guys who say they want to "help" you but really just want to get laid!.

i want you to know you are not alone, there's many in AA who are young just like you!.i am married to a recovering alcoholic and he has been clean and sober for 3 yrs,it took a lot of hard work on his part and his going to meetings to get him this far!.He goes to meetings four times a week and he is doing a lot better because of them!.A lot of stigma is out there regarding those who have drinking problems, but i am proud of you for wanting to quit and want to do something about it,so you do not end up like most alcoholics who do not want to quit as alcoholism is a lifelong disease, but with the proper support from fellow alcoholics in recovery you will life a long time!.There's a saying which is the program will not work if you do not work it!.Just take things one day at a time, easy does it,you can do it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm not in AA, but my mom is the Ohio delegate of Al Anon (for families of alcoholics), and through that, I've made a lot of friends who are in AA!.

Yes, AA is the next step, in my opinion!. It has the capability of helping anyone who wants to be helped!.

No, you will not feel awkward being a single woman!. Most AA members I know (especially newcomers) are single!.

Yes, absolutely, there are others out there like you!. My dad was one!. My half-brother's dad was one!. My first step-dad is one!. My second step-dad is one!. My best friend's dad is one!. My step-brother is one!. My step-brother's fiance is one!. My neighbor across the street is one!. Even my therapist is a recovering alcoholic!. ERIC CLAPTON is a recovering alcoholic (one of my friends has been in a meeting with him )!. Believe me, you're not alone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
