Help me understand this about ADD/ADHD drugs?!
Question: Help me understand this about ADD/ADHD drugs!?
How does a drug like Ritalin or Adderall which are stimulants help someone who is already hyperactive and anxious!. I've read that they give it to people with anxiety already!. Wouldn't a STIMULANT make everything worse!? Can someone explain this to me!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Medication level you out!. If your hyper it levels you out!.!.!.if your unfocused it levels you out!. My daughter is ADD (not hyper at all and it works wonders!. My nephew is ADHD and very hyper and on the same thing (ritalin) and it works wonders for him also!. They both are able to stay focused and level throughout the day because the meds somehow just seems to make everything level!.
My dos said she dont recommend ritalin for someone with anxiety becasue it makes things worse!.

Stimulants aren't used to treat anxiety!. If anything they would make it worse, or induce it if you overused them!.
Stimulants are used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder because due to a lack of focus or stimulation, their minds are all over the place, causing the hyperactivity!. It is not because they are overstimulated, instead they are under stimulated which causes them to be distracted easily!.
For instance an ADD child in class who wasn't medicated might get bored of work and start talking or figeting to keep themselves occupied!. On medication they would be quieter and still, because they could focus on their work!. If you gave them too much they might become anxious and confused!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
