I am on lexapro!. and so it two of my other friends!. It works well for me!. But for the first two weeks i had really really bad side effects because my body wasnt used to it!. It made me extremely sleepy, I couldnt hold down my food, and it made me feel weird!. I went to my Dr and he said he never heard of those symptoms happen bc it usually makes people NOT tired but he told me to stay on it until after two weeks and if the symptoms dont go away then he was going to switch me to something diff!. but WA LA! the symptoms have gone away and I really like lexapro!. It helps alot for me!.
I have had major problems with depression and anxiety!. which now, i dont have! yay!
i havent been on any other ones tho!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Antidepressants are designed to counteract the feeling of depression and anxiety!. They can only be prescribed by a doctor such as a GP, specialist doctor or psychiatrist after lengthy consultation and perhaps after your GP recommend trying counselling first!.

Antidepressants work by changing the level of (neurotransmitters) the chemical messages in the brain, which are thought to be in low supply!. They include noradrenaline (aka norepinephrine) and serotonin!. Anti-depressants fall into a number of different categories depending on their action within the body!.

You must ALWAYS consult your doctor before changing any aspect of prescribed medication!. Discuss your progress with them; mention if you ever feel unwell, are experiencing side effects, or notice any changes that you are concerned about!. Medications can affect different people in different ways and finding the right antidepressant and the right dosage is likely to involve a period of trial and adjustment!.

Based on your outcome from the drug you are on now, your doctor will then be able to assess which other ones he may feel would be better for you and prescribe something better so I would listen to his advice and to try other ones to find one that really suits you!. With antidepressants it is trial and error until you find a suitable one that helps in every aspect of why you are taking them without any side effect!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am on effexor and my doctor just put me on wellbutrin a week ago!. I have side effects from effexor with being sleepy and not hungry and some effects of wellbutrin that I do not like!. I hear that many of the side effects of wellbutrin are not good but go away in a month then you feel better!. I have taken medicines that work for awhile then stop working!. I do not like cymbalta, that medication drove me crazy, becareful with that med!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No antidepressant is made for everyone!. The chemistry going on inside the brain is too complex for any amount of research today to understand in individual terms!. One medication may have no side effects on "John" but the same medication will have severe adverse effects on "David"!. It is quite normal for a practitioner to change a patients' medication many times before finding the right molecule for a specific individual!. Most atypical antidepressants will begin with very uncomfortable or powerful side effects as the brain chemistry changes but after the course of a few weeks to a month or so these will completely disappear!.!.!.!.!.be certain to give yourself enough time before deciding to change!.

A good doctor should always take into consideration the side effects his patient is experiencing so simply explain to him your feelings and what effects would be unacceptable for you!.

All the best hope!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you have only a mild depression why not try taking St Johns wort, it can have a very good effect on some people, and it is totally natural, you should be able to purchase it from any health food store, make sure that your doctor knows that you are taking it if he decides to prescribe you any medication as it may cause side effects!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The only kind I can take is Lexapro!. I have tried effexor, paxil and zoloft and had horrible side effects!. I am average 120 pounds and have actually lost 2 pounds but I do ride a bike daily so weight gain has not been an issue!. I dont have any horrible side effects either!. I take it at night incase it makes me tired!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I take Effexor and I love it!. However, if you don't like it, I would recommend Paxil!. The only thing about Paxil is it tends to make some people sleepy, but it works really well when it comes to making you feel better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
