OCD compulsive behavior help?!

Question: OCD compulsive behavior help!?
I have had the urge to walk certain ways ever since I was a child!. If I am on a sidewalk, I will try to even my steps so I take one or two steps then the last step on the crack, then repeat several times going down the sidewalk!. This may also happen inside if the floor pattern is broken into sections!. So I guess that is a compulsion!.

What is the obsession or fear that causes me to need to do this!? How do I stop!?

I have a bunch of other symptoms such as fear of hurting someone or myself, eating things in order or evening the food up, repeatedly making calculations, and repeating things in my head!. Has anyone else had any of these symptoms and can explain why you had them and how you made them better!? I'm thinking about going to a therapist, but I'm researching the subject first!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
This seems to be a reoccuring problem for you!. I think you need to get to a doctor as soon as you can!. I notice one thing you said and it makes sense: "I'm thinking about going to a therapist but I'm researching the subject first"!. This implies to me that you know you have a problem, but you'd rather try and solve it yourself first by doing the research!. There are some great medications out now for OCD--so get on the phone and ccall the therapist!. Self-diagnosis isn't the thing for you to do here; you need to let the therapist make a diagnosis, and then plan your program for recovery!. Good luck and God Bless!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Behavioral therapy would help!. They'll have you gradually discontinue your addiction to this behavior - assuming it is invading your ability to live a normal life!. SSRIs like Lexapro or Zoloft could be of help too in reducing obsessive thought patterns!. The drugs can help quite a bit, as it is very hard to stop obsessive thought patterns like that, especially in today's world of jobs, technology and mental stress!. Our minds are getting way overused and we're not used to all this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
