Answers:
ok, first of all, Alzheimers (dementia) is a progressive disease!. There is NO cure, only medications that can sometimes help with the symptoms, (mood swings, etc)!.
You have to see your nanny in the BODY, but remember that her MIND is gone!. It's hard to do!. To see someone you know, and care about and wonder what in the world happened! It is a degenerative disease of the brain!. We don't really understand the who gets it and why yet, but we know it's there!.
1!. Try putting depends or other "adult diapers" on her at night!. She may or may not leave them on!. Put her panties on over them!. Sometimes this helps!.
2!. The caregiver should ask her doctor if Aricept or Resperdal or other medications could help!. Sometimes a light sedative is given just to keep them calmer!.
3!. You need to try to remember that we all started out as infants, needing to be fed, and changed, and loved!.!.!.some of us end life the same way!. It's a tough place to be in!.
4!. You, your parents, the caregiver may need to think about the fact that someday, your nanny may need to go into a care center, locked (it keeps them from wandering), and be cared for!. As she reaches "end of life" staging, Hospice should be called to assist!. Many Hospice's will go into care homes!.
5!. Someone should have her Medical, Financial and mental health "Power of Attorney"!. If not, the courts can appoint a guardian for her!. (Everyone should have all three of these if you are married or have children!)
6!. There is an Alzheimers association that you can contact for help and more info, ACTIONALZ!.ORG!.
7!. Last, remember this person who cared for you, loved you, protected you!. (sometimes that's hard to do when they are being ugly!.!.!.!.) The adults around her should do the same for her!. Good luck, God Bless!. LoriWww@Answer-Health@Com

My two cents!.!.!. this sounds like an acute turn for the worse, not a chronic problem!. Sudden rapid changes should be talked about with your doctor, because they may have causes other than the illness!. Do it quickly because it may be reversible!.

from the link below: Call your health care provider if a person with this disorder experiences a sudden change in mental status!. (A rapid change may indicate other illness!.)Www@Answer-Health@Com
