I am in the same boat you are in, in terms of probably having a form of it -- and there is nothing wrong with either one of us (smile)

You can see an educational psychologist for additional help or a counselor at school, if you are still in school!. Often other symptoms go along with Asperger's including anxiety and or depression, so sometimes seeing a psychiatrist can help with the anxieties related to social situations!.

It all depends on where you are having trouble in your life!.
- If you need help with school, contact someone at your local school or uni for additional resources on how to best address your needs in the classroom!.
- If you are out of school, try contacting a psychologist who specializes in pervasive developmental disorders!.!.!. such as autism!.
- You can also see your primary care doctor for a referral!.

There are sometimes community groups that are designed for adults with autism and or aspergers!. Searching the internet or contacting your local hospital, might be a good way to see what resources are available immediately!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Self diagnosis is always a little sketchy and "Slight Asperger's" raises a red flag for me!. Are you just feeling socially awkward!? Do you lash out with a temper!? Hard time empathizing with people!? Some of these things are just human short comings!.You really dont give enough info!.

If you identify things that are impacting your life in a negative way, it is reasonable to reach out for help or seek to improve them!. Below is a link to Wiki with a full explanation of Asperger's Syndrome and treatments and also a link to support groups!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is no cure for Aspergers!. There are things that can be done to help, including some medications that might help with specific problems!. I would prefer a non-drug approach, if possible!.

Obviously, you are not a child if you have done your own reseach!. I think there are a lot of people out there with Aspergers that have learned to cope and compensate but were never diagnosed!. People with Aspergers tend to be very smart and focused, so if they can find their grove, they can fit into society nicely!. (It is believed that Albert Einstein and Bill Gates probably had/have Aspergers)!. People with Aspergers are often technologically oriented and it's said that there is a high percentage of people with it in San Jose, CA (Silicon Valley)!. Because so many of the population there has it, they tend to marry others with Aspergers tendencies and it has spiked in children there!.

Social skills can be difficult to master because they can't grasp why something is a problem!. You just have to learn what behavior is and isn't acceptable, even if you don't get why!. The problem is, social skills probably aren't that important to you, so mastering them isn't really worth the effort!. It can make a difference in how successful you become in life though, if you can't give them any value!.

If you have slight Aspergers or PDD-NOS (which simply means you don't meet all the guidelines for Aspergers, but something is there) you will probably function just fine in society and most people will just think your a little quirky!. The truth is, most of us are a little quirky!.

There are support groups on line for people with Aspergers!. Perhaps you could check some out and see if you still think you might be!. You could also talk to your doctor!. Often people with Aspergers have some other syptoms (OCD, ADD, bi-polar) and if so, you might need some kind of medication to help with those problems!.

There is a lot of information on line regarding all of these things, so do your research!.
Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you truly have it, it is very slight if at all!. It is not something that is curable, you just have to learn to recognize social cues and increase your overall awareness!. You also need to increase you awareness of your own behaviors like repetition, distraction, etc!. You did not list why you think you have it, though!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think that to have a very mild, slight manifestation of AS traits presents its own problems quite separate from more severe cases!. The main problem is that other people will hold you to the same standards as 'normal' people, which can be a problem because one of the traits of AS is an insensitivity to appropriate behaviour, topics of conversation and so on!. I've learnt that the answer is not to constantly explain to people in the hope that they will 'excuse' your conduct, you just have to find those rare individuals who 'get you' without even knowing that there is something wrong!.

After being diagnosed, at first I took comfort in reading the mainstream AS literature!. But now I find even more help in the literature of anti-psychiatry of writers such as RD Laing, Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari!. These writers reject the medicalising tendency of psychiatry in favour of a view of autistic spectrum disorders (and schizophrenia) as being symptomatic of a society that needs to radically change rather than being purely an individual disease!. So my advice would be to not take a medicalised view of yourself too quickly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

my sister works with children with severe autism and aspergers syndrome!.

the treatment they do is to manage distressing symptoms and to teach age-appropriate social, communication and vocational skills that are not naturally acquired during development!. The ideal treatment for AS coordinates therapies that address core symptoms of the disorder, including poor communication skills and obsessive or repetitive routines!. It's a helping aid for the person to learn how to interact/socialize with other people!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Cookie M is totally wrong she must be thinking of something else!.

And how dare she critisize you even if you do smoke its your right to chose!.

Im sure you dont have Aspergers but it would probably be for the best if you Go and See your G!.P they'll tell you if your symptoms are actually showing slight Aspergers or are just a behavioural disruption!.

The most likely guess is that you dont have it, you'll just think you do in your head!.

Since it is a Syndroms and not a Disease / Infection it is incureable, your either born with it, or develop it in later life after a trigger!. but you caant lose it, you can learn to controll it though!.

Hope your G!.P can help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No cure, just live your life your way, that's the best medicine!. Don't try to please others by doing what they think you should do!. Some of the best minds have had Asperger's Syndrome, including Albert Einstein and Bill Gates!. Appreciate you for who you are!. Recognize that you have a way of looking at things that although different from most of your peers and family, is entirely valid!.

You can always go to a mental health center for an evaluation if you are really bothered by your symptoms!. If you do have it, it's probably either a very mild form or possibly only some traits!.

There are online support groups, generally by location!. Do a Yahoo search for one in your state/country!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi!. I was assessed by a psychiatrist to see if I had Aspergers, but he said I didn't have it!. Have you spoken to your doctor about this!? If not, my advice would be to visit your doctor and tell him about your suspicions, and if he/she thinks you might have Aspergers they should refer you to a psychiatrist to assess you!.

I'm no expert on Aspergers, but I do know it is part of the autistic spectrum, and so you should find helpful information on The National Autistic Society's website:

Sorry if you've looked at this already, I just thought it might be a good place to look for advice on support in your area if you have Aspergers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You don't have asperger's!. You are just a hypochondriac!. It is hard for a doctor to diagnose someone with aspergers!. It has symptoms similar to many other things like turrets syndrome and ADD!. So there is no way you diagnosed yourself with it!.

Also no medical treatment, but you just have to do things to practice your cognitive/social skills!.!.!.etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well im not sure where half the people got their answers from on here! My friends son has Aspergers Syndrome, he was home educated for a long time and she also did the Son Rise programme with him, based on the experiences of an American family whose son went on to University and married! My friends son now goes to senior school and although will always be different, he copes reasonably well with it, he is able to make some friendships, more so with adults and does enjoy some physical contact!.

I would recommend you look into the son rise programme!.

It is also recognised that most of us are on the autistic spectrum so you arent alone!Www@Answer-Health@Com

My brother has it almost certainly, but there isn't much help for adults that we could find (not ANY actually!)!. What I did was get him a kid's etiquette book, which helped him a lot!. Also, he did not realize that he had to say thank you when someone did him a favor!. so we role played that and he has practiced and he is MUCH better!. Mostly, you have to practice!. And I'm not sure what mild asperger's is - asperger's is mild autism!. I meet some of the criteria myself, but I just say I am a nerd and laugh at myself and get off the plate tectonics or quasar or botany lesson before it bores everyone silly!. I save such topics for talking with my brother!. Small talk will never come naturally for me!. But you know, we have a huge vegetable garden, and my botany helps me there!. We do our own income taxes!. And when people come up with some silly ideas to invest in, like making your own hydrogen car (as if it doesn't take energy to get the hydrogen to begin with) I let them know that it won't work!. So there are silver linings, for darn sure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go get tested professionally!.
Self diagnoses of something that has no cure is no good!.
There are no drugs that cure it, you will still live everyday as you have been!.
Look into your family, whom else has it or full fledged autism/epilepsy!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
