The first thing you will want to do is go to your medical doctor and explain what you are experiencing!. He can help you zero in on if indeed it is the nerves and your thinking causing your agoraphobia!.

I would also discuss this with your OB/GYN as she/he just might reassure you that many moms experience this and that it will most likely pass after the birth of your newborn!.

If you still would like to learn more about what you can do to help yourself, here are some ideas that might assist you on this journey!.

I experienced severe anxiety attacks for many years!. Gratefully, anxiety attacks are no longer my reality!.

A book which was absolutely instrumental in helping me get well again and overcome my anxiety is by Dr!. Claire Weekes, Hope and Help For Your Nerves!.

She explains so clearly how overly fatigued nerves, stress, nervous tension and worry can cause anxiety disorders of all kinds - including agoraphobia!.

She has helped millions around the world to first understand the numerous anxiety symptoms that one can experience from stress and overly spent nerves!. Next, she simply teaches how to overcome one's anxiety disorder including agoraphobia!.

Weekes has another book, Peace From Nervous Suffering, which is more geared for one struggling with agoraphobia which you say is what you are dealing with!.

Personally, I would read both of those books, as you will extract tons of helpful information!. This is brilliant and yet easy to understand and practical information that has helped millions regain their mental health again!. Her step-by-step self help methods are really life changing!.

You can go to http://www!.healthbanquet!.com/anxiety-hop!.!.!. to read about all the steps I took to overcome my anxiety disorder and become well again!. This is the website I created to help others who are also struggling to get well as I was!.

agoraphobia is NOT a fear of open places or going outside!. the reason people think this is because in ancient greek/latin it translates to fear of the marketplace!.

it's a fear of having panic attacks, or being in a situation where you might have a panic attack!. that's why people can't leave the house at times, because they fear if they go out somewhere like the shops or whatever they won't be in control of their environment etc and they're scared of what'll happen when/if they have an attack there!.

talk to someone about your concerns, your doctor or other medical professional!. they'll be able to assess you and if you do have it, be able to help you deal with it!.

also have a look at the site below, there's an anxiety section which contains info on agoraphobia and how to deal with anxiety and panic attacks!. you can do things yourself such as progressive muscular relaxation, taking small steps to overcome your fears, tips on how to reduce your arousal and stress levels etc!.

also, if you like herbal tea try drinking peppermint when you are stressed or before you need to go out!. it has a calming effect on anxiety and is safe to take often!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe you are anxious about being pregnant and feel safer indoors just in case anything happens whilst you are outside!.

On the other hand, if you were like this before your pregnancy, maybe you need some medication to try to help you feel a bit better!. You would have to talk to your GP or midwife to make sure that any medication prescribed to you is safe for your baby too!.

Hope things get better for you!. Pregnancy is a wonderful thing and you will enjoy it if you feel better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

What you are describing is more common than you think!

Many women (myself included) have experienced agoraphobia while pregnant, it stems from a very strong primal desire to protect your unborn child!.

Talk to your OB about what you are feeling, as there is medication that you can take that will help you and not have any effect on the fetus!.

the good news is that you will be fine and so will your baby!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have agoraphobia It is caused when you have a fear of what might happen to you when you go outside you think of all the stuff that might hurt you or all of the stuff that could happen I am on meds for it but the way they tell you is to go outside for at least 5 minutes even if it is not as far as your front yard if you feel safe go a little farther until you can't handle it no more!. then the next day go further than you did the day before!. The only way to really help is think about calm stuff tell your mind there is nothing going to hurt you and be strong because ther is like 1 in a 1,000,000,000 chances that something is really going to happen so the odds are in your favor!. call your doctor and tell them what is going on and they may put you on something mild!. I hope this helps and sorry to hear about the problemWww@Answer-Health@Com

Agoraphobia is the fear of open spaces!. I'm not sure how this applies to your pregnancy!. Do you think you are agoraphobic because you are pregnant, or are you worried about getting outside of the house when your time comes to have the baby!? What is the nature of your concern at this time!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Have you always been like this or is it a recent thing!? Start off with very small steps like the person above me has said!. Don't do anything that feels too much, for now the garden might be the first step then the end of the road etc!. Do you have anyone who could walk with you!? That way you have something to distract you and you won't feel as panicky!. Call your GP too and explain what's going on and they'll give you further advice!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just little steps!. Try things like sitting out in the garden if you have one, walking to your local shop, going to your nearest park, for short periods, say 10mins at first then extend the periods out little by little!. Also go and see your dr!. they can provide help and support for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would go talk to your OBGYN about the problems you are having!. Sometimes pregnancy can cause more anxiety!. There are some safe medicines to take while pregnant!. Ask your doctor!. :) Good Luck & feel better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i know what you are going though hope you get better and also try and talk to someoneWww@Answer-Health@Com
