I used to be a cutter?!


Question: I used to be a cutter!?
what do you do to help when your body gets that urge that you cant help, that makes you want to hurt yourself!.!.!. I always feel the need to punch something or hit my head on something, but i dont know what to do thats healthy!. I have already been to see people but them dont help much!. All they try to do it put me on meds I cant affordWww@Answer-Health@Com

I completely hear what you're saying--I've been fighting the same problem for a few years now, and I would be hard pressed to say that I'd found a solution!. Sometimes I try taking scissors to a piece of wood or something, and carving into that (carefully, of course--don't want to splinter or accidentally do anything worse), or I cut pieces of paper!. I try to do stuff that simulates what I really want to do, without hurting myself, and eventually I calm down or find the need to do other things!. I have been to a few psychs, and no one's really told me a useful solution, but what might work for you are things like writing or going for walks--if you're the athletic type, you might be able to go run or something!. Supposedly, this brings up the serotonin levels in your brain, which influence happiness!. Good luck, I hope you find a good solution!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i get that often, im really not sure how i calm down
im sure you've heard this many times before, but try doing something you love, or something to distract you and requires alot of concentration so you dont have to concentrate as much on the hurt!. Maybe even school work xD it helps me somehow!.
i found that i enjoy punching punching bags !. so maybe that could help, for me, its just music that calms me down, find something and stick with it!.

I wouldnt use the meds!. Psychiatrists always try to perscribe people something!. When you're anger or upset with yourself dont try to hurt yourself, sit down, take a couple of deep breathes and try and figure out a mature and safe approach to the situation, maybe even try hitting a pillow or even screaming!. It may make you feel better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well if its cutting you do !? When you get the urge to cut yourself !. Remember the ugly scars it leaves behind!. It seems to help !.Who would want scars all over themselves!. Or crank up the tunes and sing your heart out !. Makes ya feel like a brand new person !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have urges to hurt myself as well!. My suggestion is to meditate for a couple of minutes and just calm yourself down!. Also talk to somebody and see if there is an alternative to meds!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

find a close friend that you can talk to and trust not to spread it around everywhere!.
and maybe get into a more aggressive sport like rugby or lacrosse so you can take youre anger out on something!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try writing on yourself with an ink pen!.
Exercise vigorously!.
Hold ice in your hand!.
Cut up something with scissors!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
