Mood disorders are the general diagnostic category that bipolar disorder and major depression (and others) fall into!. Bipolar itself has a number of subtypes as well (I, II, NOS, cyclothymia)!. In other words, a person with bipolar disorder has a mood disorder, but having a mood disorder does not mean a person necessarily has BP!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bipolar disorder (Manic episode), major depression & dysthymic disorder are all classification of Mood disorder!. All of them are disturbances beyond normal range of mood experienced by most people!.
