How to get someone to stop doing drugs?!

Question: How to get someone to stop doing drugs!?
Answers:
Almost everyone else has pointed out that the addict has to want to stop!. The only things that you can do to help them are;
1!. Pray
2!. Don't be an enabler (more on this later)
3!. learn how to use tough love, set limits & stick to them for your own protection!

re;#2
enabler=somebody who does things that can be percieved as caring but actually help the addict continue in their diseased ways!. For example, my grandmother allowed my brother to live rent free, drunk & stoned out of his mind in her home because she didn't have the heart to see him living on the streets!. She prolonged his disease by being "NICE"!.enablers make it harder for addicts to hit bottom, so they use (&abuse people) that much longer!

#3 tough love;
1!. do not buy into an addicts lies
2!. do not give an addict money
3!. do not give an addict undeserved trust
4!. never buy stolen goods from the addict
5!. never do anything that may subsidize the addicts using
6!. let the addict know how much you love & care for them, but also let them know that you find their using unacceptable!.
7!. Give the addict information on where and how to seek help, let them know you will support them (morally only) if they seek help!. na!.org has narcotics anonymous meetings links for any area-printout a meeting list in your addicts area and encourage them to attend regular meetings!.
8!. get your own bad self to alanon or naranon meetings to learn more about dealing with somebody elses disease!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You really can not get somebody to stop doing drugs only they can quit when they are ready when they find out the reason they turned to drugs in the first place!.

If you want to help talk to the person tell them you are worried about the and care about them and are there to help anytime they need you!. Then be there without judgement support them and let them know you are there for them not you!.

Good luck its a long hard journeyWww@Answer-Health@Com

Honestly, you can't!. I am a recovering drug/alcohol addict and I didn't stop until I was ready to!. No amount of screaming, crying, begging, threatening, etc!. could have convinced me to quit using until I was ready to on my own!.

The hard truth is that this person may never want to be clean and sober!. They may never get well!.!.!.

The only thing that you can do is be there for them if they choose to stop and support them!.!.!.But don't love them to death!. Create boundaries for your relationship with the person!. Let them know that you love them very much, but you just can't stand to watch them kill themselves with the drugs!. Tell them ways in which your relationship will change if they continue using!. Example: You won't hang out nearly as often anymore!.!.!.or they can't come stay at your house anymore!.!.!.etc!.

And remember, if they do choose to quit and get some help, you and the others around him or her have to be healthy too!. You may want to look into counseling to help you deal with the rollercoaster of feelings and events that you have no doubt been through because of this person's drug usage!.

Good luck and take gentle care!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can't force someone to stop!. The first step to getting better is to admit there's a problem!. You can stage an intervention to let it be known how you feel and show how it's hurting them and everyone else and encourage them to go to NA, but it's impossible to just get someone to stop if they're not on the bandwagon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yea exactly what every one else said, you can however have a serious talk, do somewhat of an intervention with all their friends and family, explain to them that help is available if they want to get clean!.!.!.and if not its best to stay away from them until they decide they want help!.

It may take awhile before they decide they need help, but stay strong!.!.!.!.drug addicts depend on the people around them and the people around them can become enablers so your best bet is to law down the law and stay away before they deicde they need helpWww@Answer-Health@Com

oh im sure you are not the only one wondering this!.!.!.!.!. i heard there is a pill for addiction now!. you can support them, give them resources, take them to a morgue!. take them to a jail, not much you can do to make them tho!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can't, they have to decide to do it for themselves!. They will have to really want too, or they won't stay clean!. It's not easy, and I give kudos to anyone that can stop and stay clean!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The truth is you don't!. They have to want to stop doing them!. No amount of threatening, yelling, crying or begging will make them do something they aren't ready to do or don't want to do!. Sorry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You could have an intervention with those that he or she is close to!. Honestly, people have to want to change and must take charge of the situation for it to work but many have had success with interventions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Once they start, it's up to them to stop!. Just tell them that you're not going to hang around with them until they stop!. It always ends with trouble if you hang around!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If they don't want to stop then there is nothing anyone can do but try and be there for them the best you can!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can't!. They need to want to stop, even then, it's hard!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
