Switching from Concerta 72mg to Adderall 20mg.....?!
Question: Switching from Concerta 72mg to Adderall 20mg!.!.!.!.!.!?
Has anyone done this without tapering off the Concerta before taking Adderall!? I forgot to ask my doc but the Concerta wasn't working anymore so she switched me to Adderall xr 20mg!. Should I be taking the Concerta and Adderall together because I feel that the adderall isn't working and me stopping the Concerta suddenly cause the Adderall not to be as effective!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The two drugs may not be at equivalent doses, relatively speaking!. Because of the way stimulants work, there is little danger of stopping the Concerta abruptly and starting Adderall but I am guessing that the dose of Adderall XR that you are on is not equivalent in potency to the Concerta you were on!. So, you may need a higher dose!. Also, Concerta and Adderall XR are delivered differently!. Concerta works by releasing a small proportion of Ritalin (which is essentially what Concerta is) after you take it and then it slowly releases the rest of over the course of the next few hours!. When you take Adderall XR, half dissolves right away and a few hours later, the other half dissolves!. Some people do better with slow release over the whole day and others with the half and half release of Adderall!.
Aside from increasing the dose, augmentation with something like Wellbutrin or Straterra, both are nonstimulants, to increase the effect of the Adderall would be good options to ask about!.
Add: Latte would probably intensify the effect of the Adderall since both the caffeine and the Adderall are stimulantsWww@Answer-Health@Com
