What is it like if you go to check yourself into an emergency psychiatric facili!

Question: What is it like if you go to check yourself into an emergency psychiatric facility!?
If you don't have money will they help you!? Does going there to get help mean you will incur medical bills/debt!? How can they help!? If you go will it be permanently in your medical record/or any other type of record and you'll be sort of branded in the future!? Can you get into trouble if you tell them you are having bad thoughts!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Okay, the WORST thing you can do is not go to the emergency room!. l can't tell you how many people are brought in by police/ambulance without knowing how they got there!
They will admit you, money or not, because everyone knows that bad thoughts can lead to tragic actions, which everybody wants to prevent!.
Medical bills are the last thing to worry about!. The hospital will give you charity care if you are poor enough!. You can always work that out!. It will cost a lot more and be far more difficult, embarrassing, uncomfortable and expensive if they bring you in involuntarily!.
Your record will be a medical record and kept just as confidential!. Look at it this way, mental illness causes severe behavior disturbances so you will be far less likely to be branded by getting care than not!.

What they will do for you is evaluate you to see if you need to be admitted!.
They know you would not be there if you did not have bad thoughts and there are no thoughts they have not heard before!. So it's really important to tell them!.
They will speak with you to tell you what's going to happen!. When you walk in on your own accord you are not committed, you are free to leave at any time!.
They will give you medicine and counseling!. They will observe you to see how the meds are working!. They will tell you what you must do to hopefully stay out of the hospital in future, although most of us do have to go back in from time to time!.
They will not admit you if you don't belong there, but will recommend out-patient care!.

So l urge you to go!. You can e-mail me if you want further support!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Based on your concerns it sounds like you might want to look into treatment through your community mental health department!. They can provide evaluations and supports without regard to financial status!. They can also help people plug into low cost or free medical coverage and other resources!.

Exactly how a person is helped, what supports and treatments are needed, depends upon their unique mental health needs!. A treatment team typically consists of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, case managers, social workers, and sometimes a peer who is in recovery for additional encouragement and support!. The goal is typically to treat within the community in the least restrictive setting - meaning they don't want to lock a person up and separate them from their family and native supports!.

Really, the only time you want to present at an ER is if you are seriously in danger of harming yourself or someone else!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You have some very important and valid questions!. I can't answer them all, but I can say it's important for you to be totally open and honest about your current condition!. Try not to worry about "what if's", such as "What will happen to me if I'm completely honest!?" The psychiatric staff are there to help you!. And the only way they can be of the most help and support to you is by your being as truthful as you can be!. Give yourself a break and ask for what you need!. You deserve that!. And I hope you will receive the assistance you need!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There will definitely be a bill if you don't have insurance!. You should tell them everything you're feeling and you shouldn't "get in trouble"!. If you don't return there again within 7 years, they destroy the records at that time, at least in WA state!. They cannot release your records without your signed consent and you don't have to tell anyone that you were there!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No you can't get in trouble!.If you need to go into a hospital bad enough you wouldnt be so worried about these silly things!.Trust me I have had a breakdown and the only thing that mattered was I got help and got better!.So what's the deal!?I'm confusedWww@Answer-Health@Com

You won't get into any trouble at all - no matter what your bad thoughts are!. There will be a cost but if you need the help, you need the help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

LOL, I was brought in to a mental hospital by the police!. XD! It was pretty cool to ride in a cop car, lmao!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
