Can ANYONE, SOMEONE, Plz help me?! I'm so scared!?!

Question: Can ANYONE, SOMEONE, Plz help me!?! I'm so scared!!?
Today i went to a therapy appointment with my mom and dad for some issues (my eating disorder being one of them) and the therapist suggested my parents call Western Psychiatric Hospital ASAP so that i could be evealuated!. She wants me to do an inpatient/outpatient program for my "eating disorder" but i think that this is all toatally unnecesary!. I mean, my weight is very low (5'4 87lbs) but i have always been thin and im also working towards eating better!. I have also missed 7periods, which i know is really bad!. In the past 5months, i have gained about 4lbs, which isn't that much, but im eating a lot better!. I eat 3 full meals and 2 snacks per day!. I know i need to gain weight, and im scared, but i don't think that i should go into an eating disorders clinic!. A couple of doctors have told me to go, and every time i tell my parents i can do it, and i think this time they won't believe me that i really do want to get better and do it on my own!.They don't think i can!. What should i do!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Calmly explain to them all of this!. Tell them you are trying and that you don't feel it is neccessary!. Bargain with them!. Tell them to give it a few weeks to show them how much you are improving!. Tell them that you are on your way to getting healthy and that you do not think that this will in any way help!. Address them in a mature manner!. Tell them that if you keep missing periods or other health issues continue then you will be more understanding and apt to going!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should go, and don't be scared!. You might be eating 3 meals a day, but may not be getting the nutrients your body needs!. Not getting your period for 7 months is messing up your hormones!.

There are therapists at these clinics!. And you'll be able to voice any concerns without your parents around!. Plus you'll meet a lot of folks with similar problems and not feel so alone!.

Please go!. For yourself!. And try not to be scared!. ((((HUGS))))Www@Answer-Health@Com

If so then do what your parents and the doctors recommend and work your butt off to show them you can get better!.Hardly anyone gets better on their own - almost every one needs help to get rid of an eating disorder!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It appears that your parents, and your therapist are worried about you!. 87 lbs!. is extremely underweight for your height!. They are doing this to help you!. I know that it seems extreme, but being someone who suffered from bulimia for 14 years, and still struggling it is very easy to fall back into old habits!. I too, thought I could do it on my own!.!.!.!. many times!.!.!.!. It took a real scare to snap me out of it!. Your body needs to be retrained!.
I just wish that I had the support that you seem to have!. My parents knew and did nothing, because I was fat, and in 3 months, I lost almost 80 lbs!. Years later they told my husband to watch out because I had an eating disorder!.
Please get the help you need!. It will possibly save your life!. You are young and have your whole life ahead of you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes they should be considering you wishes since you are being truthful and gaining wt!. That being said doctors who have experience with eating disorders generally don't believe the one with the disorder but the parent!. BTW no your parents could make you go into the hospital!. Have you tried talking with your parents to make your case!? Try again!. It seems that you are really trying and you are definitly on the right track!. Remember that this is a disorder and you could relapse!.!.!.but don't let that discourage you from getting back on track again!. As for the hospital evaluation, that's all it would be!. They would admit you and watch what and when you ate!. Since you are eating fine you would be out in no time!. Again to avoid that talk with your folks!. Good luck!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your parents and therapist are worried about you!. Keep that in mind!. Inpatient treatment can be a scary thought - especially if you have not been inpatient before!. The benefits to inpatient treatment are round-the-clock care and a supportive environment!. You will likely be with other girls (and boys) your age who suffer from eating disorders and are experiencing the same problems you are!. The facility will provide healthy food for you and work hard to get you to a non-life threatening weight/situation!.

I understand that you say you are eating better and that's very positive!. As someone else mentioned, you can try bargaining with your family in an effort to stay out of the hospital, letting them know that if you don't keep your end you will agree to be hospitalised!.

Another suggestion I have that may sound somewhat counter-intuitive, is to talk to your therapist about joining Weight Watchers - not to lose weight, but to learn how to eat healthily!. I have known quite a few anorexics and bulimics who have done just this!. They would be able to help you learn how much you need to eat each day to be healthy - and at your weight this would mean gaining weight!.

I know you are frightened, and want to get healthy on your own, but accepting help from a treatment center or others will make it EASIER to succeed than going it alone!. Eating disorders can and do take lives, please be safe!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know this is very hard but listen to what your parents are saying!. I know you want to be independent and make your own decisions but you're still young!. Your parents love you and will always want what is best for you!. Trust their instinct!! They have been around and have experience in the world!. Missing your periods could be risky!. If you want to have babies one day or even if you don't feel like you would like babies one day things might change !.!.!. you don't want to mess up your fertility by not eating correctly!. I'm sure there are lots of girls there that are just as scared as you are so you are not alone!! You can't get better on your own!! You would have done it the first time then!. I think logically you know you have a disorder but your emotions still want to control what you eat!. Trust your parents decisions !.!.!. after all they brought you into this world show them that they can be proud of you & your decisions!Www@Answer-Health@Com

The biggest reason your parents don't think you can do this on your own is 'cause you can't!. NOONE could!. Go get the help you need with the knowledge that you're not alone!. Your parents love you, but an eating disorder is like alcoholism!. You can't do it alone!. Allow them to be parents, which is what they are!. They want only what's best for you, and the weight you're at now is NOT good!. A girl your age has no business missing periods!.

I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum, but losing weight!. 20 pounds since Oct!. '07!. Not bad, I'd say!. I'm getting more confident every time I weigh and the scales say I weigh less than I did one week before!.

When the scales start climbing for you, you'll look and feel so much better about yourself!. Trust me!Www@Answer-Health@Com
