Question: A 4 day attempt at Lexapro has made me very sick, when might I feel better :(!?
Hey, I gave it a try, but dizziness, nausea, vomiting and the runs (I was housebound) led my doctor to tell me yesterday to just stop and rest this weekend!. When might I feel better!? I'm already missing a party and would like to attemp a barbecue Sunday!.
Anyone experience such a flat out rejection of a med like this!?
I went in quite hopeful!.!.!.
Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

This has happened to me with Celexa!.!.!.put me out of business totally for 24hrs with only one tiny dose!.!.!.totally untolerable for me!.!.!.Some medications are just NOT for you!.!.!.Ordinarily with certain meds, like antidepressants it does take about a week to determine whether it is the med for you, but even then many people suffer some undesirable reactions until their body adjusts!.!.!.Hopefully you will find another med that you can tolerate!. You should begin feeling better by Sunday!.!.!.it does take your body a bit to get the chemical out of your system tho!.!.!.visit www!.webmd!.com for more info on medications, heath issues etc!.!.!.very user friendly site with invaluable resources! Hi Lil Sammy, I've taken Lexapro for about a year and a half, and it takes about six weeks to fully have effect!. You didn't mention what dose you are taking - you might talk with your doctor and see if you can work the doses up to reduce (or hopefully eliminate) those symptoms!. Or, you might even just need a smaller dose!.!.!.

When you get off the Lexapro, get off it very gradually!. Work down one "dose" at a time, for example if you are taking 20mg Lexapro, cut down to the 10mg pills for a couple weeks, then 5mg pills for a couple weeks!. You can then cut the 5mg pills in half (they're pretty tiny) and take the half-pills for a couple weeks, then take the half-pills every other day for a couple weeks!. You could add an extra week or so and take the half-pills every third day, if you'd like!. That should help eliminate (or greatly reduce) the Lexapro withdrawal symptoms!.

Best of luck to you!
