How can I recover from bulimia alone?!

Question: How can I recover from bulimia alone!?
I told my parents that I've been suffering from bulimia, but they aren't helping at all!. They told me they were gonna get me a doctors appointment, but they aren't making any effort to do anything!. So I've come to the realization that if I want to get out of this, I'll need to do it alone!. I have my friends that can help me, but the thing is, I don't know what to do!. How do I do this!? How can I find the inner strength!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm struggling with the same thing!. Except sort of in reverse!. My parents want me to get treatment and I'm too stubborn/ashamed/scared to!. I want to do it alone!.

That said, If you're willing to get treatment, I cannot reccomend it enough!. However you can!. If not, these are some things you can do alone!.

Plan: Plan each meal the night before!. Try and eat it either with people, or somewhere far away from the kitchen!. go outside, lock yourself in your room etc!.

Replacement Addiction: Ideally, no!. But the world isn't ideal!. Have low calorie things like celery, mints, flavoured water etc that you can eat as much as you want of without guilt or a need to throw up!.

Locks: For me, being home alone was the worst time!. So whenever i was i would take my housecoat belt and tie it around the fridge door!. and then put elastics around the cupboards!. Typing it out, it sounds ridiculous!. But it works for me!.

Don't listen to all those people telling you you're going to die!. You're not going to die!. You're going to fight and it's going to be okay!.

I would suggest you keep your friends around you as much as possible especially when and after you eat!. Your gonna need lots of support and a medical professional!. If you want it bad enough, you may be ok!. good luck, I hope your parents realize sooner than later the severity of your situation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I suggest that you visit your school counselor, and ask if your parents can be contacted about this, because it's an EXTREMELY SERIOUS DISORDER, with a HIGH DEATH RATE!!! It may well have more of an effect, coming from an adult, in a position of responsibility, and your parents will no longer be able to ignore it; just sweep it under the carpet, and hope it goes away, which it won't!. wow, your parents sound like mine!. I had to get the school envolved befor they did anything!. but thats not what i recomment!. keep talking to them, sit your mom/dad down and actully tell them!. sometimes they just act like they dont care because they dont know what to do, they dont want to deal with it or they really dont know whats going on!. try telling them a little bit of why you do it!. make them listen and get them to believe that you are serious!.

But i really wouldnt go it alone, talk to a friend of trusted adult!. I'm bulimia too, and i find that when im alone or no ones asking about it is when i do it more!. you need someone to stay on you about it and help you figure out whe you do it so you can figure out how to stop it!. its much harder by yourself

if you want i'll talk to you!. I'm still recovering myself, but i can try and help ya!. just e-mail me
d_asnightnday@yahoo!.com!. or you could join an online support group!. teenhelp!.org is a good one!.

good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

are you american!?, god they give women a hard time about their appearance!.When i was at Bible college i got a word from somebody who said amongst something else, stay on the track (close to God) i have done this and my life is quite good!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can't!.!.!. you are gonna need some kind of therapy!.!.!.to get you through things!. They say old habits die hard!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Can you talk to a school counselor!? She will make sure your parents make an appointment for you at a doctors office!. Actually, why not call the doctors office yourself if you can find the number!. The nurse there can call your parents back!.

My parents were not helpful at all to me when I suffered from this!. You are stuffing your feelings and pain down into your inner core using food!. You are not alone with this!. Many share your problem!. I have answered many questions on here about eating disorders and I have only been on Yahoo Answers for about a month!

Bulimia has a lot to do with control and feelings of being out of control!. You definately need help from a counselor!.

You could pray to a higher power also!. Perhaps if you are sincere in your heart-----the human spirit can help you!. It did for me!.

I do Yoga every morning, not that I am that good at it!.

It helps me feel not so alone!. Many people believe in soul mates!. NO matter how old your are you can talk to your soul mate, even without ever having met him!.

There are many other complimentary therapies!. Talking to a counselor can help you!. You do not necessarily need to think so deep, like me!. You will be okay!. You are strong!.
You can e-mail me anytime!

Good luck with your problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First, try and think about what started your problem!. Have you been thinking too much about your weight!? Have you been comparing yourself too much to others!? These tend to be some of the most common reasons why people develop such "disorders"!. Off course I cant know for sure I am only guessing because you didnt provide us with details!.

If I happen to be right with my assumption, please understand that you were wrong!. Instead of sitting there thinking about how imperfect you are, or how your body or your lifestyle is inferior to someone else!. Get up and do something about it!.
Educate yourself!. Do some research!. Find out why it is so important to have a good, balanced diet!. Once you understand just how much harm you are doing to yourself by "getting rid" of the food you eat, you will realize that the effects of your "behavior" are much more serious than if you were overweight or whatever!. Start eating right!. I know it wont be easy, but start small!. Don't stuff yourself, just make sure you eat a little bit of everything you need!.
Every time you want to go to the bathroom after you eat, remind yorself about your commitment to change!. Remember what you are doing to yourself!.

Learn to like and respect yourself the way you are!. Some girls are under constant pressure from friends that keep asking if they are still a "virgin" or if they "finally got a boyfriend"!. Remember that the person who will love you, will love you the way you are!. This is not a race!. Don't be in a hurry with these things!. It will happen!. Focus on your goals to make changes in your life, and get rid of people who make you feel under pressure, or instill jealousy into you!. Start exercising!. No need to push yourself to the limit!. This is not a competition!.Start with 1-2 hours brisk walking per day!.

If you feel that you don't have the willpower to do what's necessary, don't be afraid to admit you have a problem and seek help!. Understand that it is better to go through some "embarrassment" and see a doctor, than keep harming yourself!. Don't waste your time and your life!. If you see you cant handle things on your own, and you know you REALLY tried, go and see a professional that will help you!. Just don't let them stuff you with drugs!. Therapy is what will help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
