Do you go to school!? If so, are there advisors or counselor's there!? If you're afraid to go to your parents, my first suggestion would be to tell an advisor/counselor- or even a teacher you trust!. A lot of times it helps that this person can be the mediator; because many times they're able to call a meeting and explain it in terms that the adult can understand!.

Another thing I would say is that you should know that you're not alone!. Adolescent Depression is finally being realized as an actual problem thanks to people like you who have the courage to confront it!. (people I think used to write it off as "just a moody teen")!.

There are a lot of great organizations out there if you research online!. Erika's Lighthouse, for instance, is a community of a teen board that brings "Depression out of the Dark"!. http://www!.erikaslighthouse!.org/Www@Answer-Health@Com

There's nothing to be ashamed of in asking your parents for assistance in this!. Clinical depression is a mental illness which can be treated!.

It can occur without the victim actually being unhappy with their life!.

I would suggest with talking to the more understanding parent and saying you think you are depressed!. It is also advisable to press upon how this doesn't mean you were unhappy with your life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Oftimes, parents, as loving as they may be, will go into a denial process before seeing something 'wrong' in their child!. More than likely, unless one of them has been thru this themselves, Mom will bestow the usual hugs & kisses type of lecture about how beautiful, smart, & wonderful you are, and that things will seem better soon, and she'll go off to bake you some chocolate chip cookies or get out the ice cream!.!.!.Gotta love Mom!!! Dad will be more like, "Get a grip, life is tough & dealing with it is what makes you stronger!.!.!.want to go fishing!?" type of retort!. This could be visa-versa, too, depending on who has the nurturing role & the logic role of the family!.

Best bet, consult your school counselor first!. See what they say, since they deal with this type of situation on a much more regular basis!.!.!.you are not alone in feeling like this!. Your experience of that will help you re-evaluate your situation and make your choices a bit wiser to continue, if actually needed!. Can't hurt!. If you do need added assistance, your counselor can probably bring this up to your folks with more serious emphasis than you alone, so that it is dealt with quickly, and he/she can also confidentially assist you with school difficulties that may also be arising!.!.!.you have someone at your back, so to speak!.
