How does manic depression work? How could it affect my life?!

Question: How does manic depression work!? How could it affect my life!?
I have not been diagnosed with bipolar disorder!. I am almost positive I have it [Look at my asked questions under '13 year old may be bipolar']!. I was a tad this way my whole life!. It seems like Its just now starting to kind of just pop out!. Its not too bad right now!. In the mild stage!. Should I get psychiatric help before it gets worse so I don't turn out living with my parents!. I'm very smart and I hope for a bright future!. It seems its being crushed!. I even watched a video about how it just started showing up in a 14 year old!. Grades dropping too!. I'm running along the same course, now she lives with her parents and is around 22!. How can I avoid turning out this way!? Should I try and get help ASAP!? I don't want to wait too long!.!. Help!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can answer a questionaire on the NAMI website at http://www!.nimh!.nih!.gov/health/topics/bi!.!.!. It is the National Institute for Mental Health website, and it is confidential, you can print it out and take it to a doctor of your guidance counselor, or the links can help you find someone!. I wish I had found help at your age!!! I had my first psychotic break at 16 and now at 42 I have been in theraby for almost 20 years (it has helped tremendously!!!) From your post, you may turn out to be what they call "highly functioning" where you can hold down a job and be reasonably happy and healthy -- but even more so if you get help now! It is nothing to be ashamed of, it is a medical condition of your brain, for goodness sake!! I respect you for recognizing it! I hope the link helps, and gets you going on the path!. Hi--Yes, getting help would probably be your best benefit!. It is good that you want the help you deserve!. A lot of people don't reach out, but you are taking the first step to wellness!. Once you get a "formal diagnose" your best bet would be to seek a therapist for therapy; usually a psychologist, and a psychiatrist; for medications!. Medications can help your mood swings, and therapy can help you learn to manage your manic episodes!.

Best of Luck, & Take Care!! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

well i think you should seek help just in case you do have it!. you could just be schizophrenic meaning you think you have something and even after medical advice you still think u have it!. i used to think i had an abnormal heart rate and i couldnt get over it for a year!.

ok read ur other q!. yeah i think u should get checked since the previous family history!.

here dude ill give u a link about it!. http://mayoclinic!.com/health/bipolar-dis!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You are correct!. It would be better to get treatment now before it gets worse!. I was recently diagnosed bipolar and it wasn't a good time!. But now it's much better and I'm glad I sought treatment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Manic depressants now known as bi-polar disorder can suffer from massive mood swings!. At their worst these moods can make life an unpredictable roller coaster ride for the person suffering them!. Life can be exceedingly utopic one minute and then in a very short space of time swing completely the opposite way and they can experience suicidial ideations and actually start forming plans to suicide!. At this point suicide seems the most logical solution to their woes!. Of course this is not the case!. Sufferers of bi-polar disorder need to be reviewed and often medicated for their own survival by a registered pschiatrist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

{someone on here described schizophrenia as thinking youre diagnosed with something when a doctor tells you you are not!. that my friend, is called hypochondria!.}

as for bipolar disorder, you should definetly tell your parents and your doctor about it!. my parents were always in denial and didn't actually listen to me until my suicide attempt!. since then its been a constant battle trying to find the right combination of meds!. if you are bipolar, you may have to be on meds for a long time!. i found this hard to accept at first but i'm good with it now!.

i don't know if that actually answered your question at all, but i thought i'd just give you my thoughts on the subject!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
