If you have one manic episode nine months ago and then no more, are you still bi!
Question: If you have one manic episode nine months ago and then no more, are you still bipolar!?
Answers:
If the manic episode was in fact mania and you have experienced depression at least once, then yes, you have bipolar and it is a life long illness!. Sorry!. Some ppl can go many years between episodes, others less!. Mood stabilizers help even things out and prolong the period between highs or lows!. The most common thinking we tend to have is that once the meds start working is that we are fine and don't need them!. Ooops!. That is virtually always wrong!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Yes!.
One manic episode is all it takes for a diagnosis (in addition to an episode of major depression)!. The assumption (usually accurate), is that another manic episode is highly likely to come down the pike at some point in time (particularly if the person is not taking mood stabilizing medication)!.
