Answers:
There are alot of long term coping skills, diet, exercise, herbs/meds, correcting your breathing, visualization, cognitive behavioral therapy, counseling, etc!.!.!.these all take time and patience and practice

In the short term, the best coping mechanism is accepting the panic!.!.!.when you feel that wave hit, say okay, i'm okay with this, its just panic, no big deal!.!.!.this way you dont give into the secondary fear, the fear of fear, which escalates the anxiety and panic!.!.!.when you feel it come on just say to yourself, no big deal, ive been through this before, accept it

Also try and recreate the panic with exposure therapy, imagined or otherwise, for example, if racing heart scares you, keep getting your heart rate up and sitting through the uncomfortable sensation, you expose yourself to it repeatedly so it doesnt have the same impact on you anymore, you get used to it!.!.!.

You can also use imagined exposure therapy where you recreate the panic attacks in your mind, over and over and expose yourself to scary situations and become accustomed to the feelingsWww@Answer-Health@Com

Do the deep slow easy breathing--in thru your nose out thru your mouth!. Accept that it is happening & that it will go away!. Try not to get scared & think something else is going on!. That will make it worse!. Also try to think of a nice, calming, relaxing place--like a beach or wherever it is that you really like!. A panic attack is one of the scariest things to happen to a person but it does help to know what it is that's going on!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Oh man, I totally understand how you feel on this one girl!. I've been getting panic attacks for almost five years now, and they SUCK! When I feel one coming on I try to calm myself down, and tell myself that nothing bad is happening, it's just a panic attack!. If that doesn't work and I'm in a public place I try to find the nearest restroom and sit for a minute in a stall---laying my head against the cool door can help me calm down!. Also, running my hands under cool water sometimes helps me "snap out of it"!.

Another thing that helps me regardless of where I am is deep breathing!.!.!.it slows everything down!.

Hope I helped!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most of the time I can get rid of my panic attacks by thinking happy thoughts!. I think of anything that will take my mind off the attack and it normally works!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
