Why am I so melancholy .....?!

Question: Why am I so melancholy !.!.!.!.!.!?
What's going on!? I'm sad that my children are no longer toddlers, (although admit its much easier now they're older) I'm forever thinking about the past, how my husband and I were when we first met, how we've changed over the years, I often feel I want to cry and just can't seem to shake any of it off!. I'm 47 - why do I feel like this!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
maybe youre just in a phase where youre being reflective and taking stock of what was once but obviously never will be again

sometimes the reasons for our moods are not immediately apparent, but those reasons do often reveal themselves in time

it's a cliche, but maybe an apt one here, and that is to make the most of today, for it soon becomes yesterday, and theres nothing you can do about yesterday if it passes as an unfulfilled dayWww@Answer-Health@Com

it sounds like you are depressed because life isn't as exciting as it used to be!. that's how it was with me!. What I did to get better was not medication but going on dates with my husband and becoming closer together with him, because when we weren't happy I found myself really depressed and looking at the past with longing!. It's normal to reminisce on "the golden years" of your child's lives!. As my children grew up, It seemed like they didn't need me anymore as much as they had when they were children, and their creativity and devotion towards me was replaced with video games and girlfriends!.!.!. I volunteer at my church for childcare, because it gives me somewhat of a glimpse of what it was like when my boys were younger!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know how you feel here!. I'm 43 I've got 2 kids one in college and one in high school now!. I amm in some ways glad I'm past all the stages of keeping them amused and cared for in the way of doing everything for them!. However sometimes I do find myself missing it!.
I do seem to reflect back alot ot earlier day when I met my husband and before our kids!. To when we were carefree and so active!.
Now I tell myself that soon my son will graduate ( in 2 years) and then will go off to college!. Then the house is quiet again!. This will give my husband and I time to grow closer again and find a new part to our relationship!.
So dont dweel on what once was focus on what is now in the present and look forward to new experiences in the future!.
Just hold on to the special memories that got you this far!.
Maybe the 2 of you could get a way for a week end and go to a beach resort or spa somewhere you dont normally go!. This helped us a while back!. To be able to leave my son with someone I knew while we were gone for a week!. That way he didnt have to miss school and he could be with his friends!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you have been feeling like this for more than 2-3 weeks you are depressed!. You must see your doctor!. |It could be hormonal - maybe you are peri-menopausal!. You may benefit from HRT or antidepressants or both!. Dont just leave this to 'wait and see', you will get better with the right help!. The important thing is that you have recognised there is something wrong, that is the first step to getting well!. There are lifestyle changes you could make but if there is a chemical imbalance, this needs to be addressed!. Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

maybe the time is right for just you two to take a holiday alone!.!.!.that might be good for you both & perk you up!.

i'm 50 & the last of my 3 children has just left home!.!.!.& i am over the moon!! - it's like a new lease of life!.!.!.!.maybe that will happen to you when yours leave!. keep your chin up!.!.!.this time will pass!Www@Answer-Health@Com
