How do I tell my mom I'm Bipolar?!

Question: How do I tell my mom I'm Bipolar!?
I'm positive I am!. I need her to take me to a psychiatrist to get an actual diagnosis!. I've told her I wanted to before, I even showed her all the psychiatrist nearby in our insurance list!. I don't want to go on untreated, and I know I need help asap!. By not telling her, I know I'm making the wrong choice!. I have once, but she didn't really take it into consideration, you know "normal teen stuff" I know its not!. My friends have even told me I needed to see one!. My teachers sometimes ask whats wrong, the other time they ask If I'm hyperactive!. My grades are dropping!. I need help!. I don't know how to get it!. I'm crying right now, and I really have no idea why!. My aunt is bipolar also!. I know by asking on here, it probably won't help!. Maybe you can though!. Please, please, help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am Bipolar, and my mother still has a hard time with it!. It isn't always easy for parents to accept that their child is different!. My mother still views it as an excuse to be unhappy, and she somehow can completely disregard scientific and medical proof that a person with this condition cannot control how their body works!.

I believe that she also does not want to admit that there is mental illness in her family, because that would mean there is "imperfection" present, and she doesn't want anyone to think her family or kids are anything less than perfect!.

Your mom may have other reasons!.!.!. but my mother's were selfish!. She felt if she ignored it, it would go away!.

I am not suggesting that you call your mother selfish, but what I do suggest is that you get the help you need, whether she supports it or not!. Try asking her, or setting up a session with your guidance counselor, as others have suggested!. DO NOT GIVE UP just to appease your mother!.!.!.!.if you feel there is something wrong, there is probably something wrong!.

I really hope that your mother does the right thing!. I wish you luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

She should already know or have an idea, but the best way to tell her is by TELLING HER!! If you seriously need medical attention for this disorder, then you need to address this w/ your mother ASAP!. I have several clients that are "bipolar" & things can go wrong VERY quickly at any moment if they do not take their medication!. Seek treatment ASAP!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
