Question: Would you tell if you knew!?
If you became aware that the child of someone you knew was self harming or using illegal drugs would you tell the parent or someone who could assist the child before the problem got out of control!? Or would you think it was not your business and say nothing!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should be given a medal for what you are going through and have gone though!.
Word for word it is as you have said,for lots of people out there i suspect,i personaly know someone in the same situation, and i know that don't want a medal just REAL help and real support, which like you said once the child is old enough , no one gives a damm and no one can do anything!.!.!.!.!.!.they just wait then for that person to break the law, in becoming violent, or stealing or whatever, and give them a crimminal record!.
considering the amount of money paid to volanteer groups, drug this and that, if it has barely worked why not come up with a real and better system!? ask the parents living in a living nightmare what they want done!!!!!!
Why don't they send the police around with a councilor at the parent request and make that person sit and listen!.
it's a start, i know a situation , where the police could not arrest the person because they had not done enough damage or actualy used a weapon, so that took one hour to decide and talk to the family and druggy to work out whos paying for motel accomodation that knight whyle on a restraining order! Why not do something better with that time!.!?
I mean the present system, expects someone who is off their head , sychotic, ugly mother, useless to society, only interested in their habitt , abusive to others in their familly, !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.to walk into a rehab place and say i need help!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?Wake up people out there are really hurting, and if any pollies are reading this DO SOMETHING!.
At this rate, no wonder there is no one to teach a trade to, no one to pick up a lot of the jobs out there!.!.!.!.!.they are all hooked on drugs (and no one's telling) the future of this country is in dire straites if we don't get something changed, am i right in saying these guy's are our future, or is the gov!. just going to throw them to the scrap heap and bring in new better models from somewhere else to work in our country!? just like you would throw away everything else today instead of fixing it right!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well I would of course tell the parents, because that's the responsible thing to do!. If anyone is self-harming or using illegal drugs, there is obviously a problem there!. And ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away!.
With the whole "none of your business" thing, that doesn't mean being irresponsible!. So yes, I would definitely tell the parents and make sure they do something quickly before anything gets too out of hand or anything like that!. Think about if you didn't do anything, then what would happen!? Do you think that family would have a happy ending!?

One of the good things about not being a doctor is that you are not bound by the same rules of confidentiality and privacy though if the child is really making comments about self harm, in the vein of suicide, even a doctor would be covered in this case!.
Let me ask your question in a different way!.!.!.if your child was using drugs or doing things to hurt him/herself, would you want to know!? If your child got hurt or died because of their behavior and you found out some adults knew about it and did nothing, would you be able to forgive them because they were just "minding their own business"!? I see this is sort of a Golden Rule type of issue and while they may not be happy with hearing their child is on the wrong path, if you bring it to their attention at least you will be able to sleep at night knowing that you acted in good faith in a way that you would hope others would do for you and your child!. Yes and no!. I think that hurting themselves is dangerous and someone who honestly cares and will try to help should be told!. With drugs, it really depends on the type of drugs because some I don't think are as critically dangerous!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
