Schizoprenia is a thought disorder!. It causes hallucinations, which cause altered sensory perception (such as seeing things that aren't real or hearing voices) and delusions, which are false beliefs (people with delusions can believe they are God or Jesus, feel paranoid and think someone is out to hurt them, think they are receiving personal messages through the radio/television, etc!. They can have one type of delusion, such as religious delusions or they can have several different types of delusions at the same time)!. There are more symptoms that go along with schizophrenia (I'll include some links for you to check out) but hallucinations and delusions are among the main symptoms of the disorder!.

As for what you can do!.!.!.is he seeing a psychiatrist at this point and on medication!? If he's not seeing a psychiatrist or is not taking medication, then encourage him to see a psychiatrist as soon as possible!. While people with schizophrenia are generally not dangerous, they have may have hallucinations and delusions that are terrifying to them, and medication can help ease those!. The prognosis on schizophrenia varies, depending on the type and how the person responds to medication!. Some people can have one psychotic break, take medication, and never have any other problems in their lives; other people can be on various medications throughout their lives and still suffer debilitating symptoms - it just depends on the person, the type of schizophrenia, and how the person responds to medication!.

Otherwise, just be there for him and be supportive of him and his feelings!. Understand that any strange behavior that he has is not him, but the mental illness itself!.

The one thing I am curious about is that you said your boyfriend was tripping on shrooms when he told you this - how long has he been doing shrooms and how often is he using them and how much is he using at a time!? There is something known as drug induced schizophrenia, which is just what the name implies - schizophrenia brought on by drug use, usually hallucinogenic drugs, such as shrooms!. While the type of schizophrenia I was talking about before was more biological in nature, the drug induced type is brought on by drug use, although people who have the drug induced type are often believed to have been predisposed to schizophrenia in the first place and might or might not have developed the disorder in the first place, if the person had not been using mind altering drugs such as shrooms!. If your boyfriend does have schizophrenia (in whatever form) he should not be using any types of illegal drugs (especially hallucinogenic ones) or drinking alcohol!.

Anyway, I hope this helps!. Like I said, just be there to support him!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
