not me!.!. just wonderingWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It depends!. If there is a drive to do this to living skin and bleeding results, yes!. However, if the skin is a callus buildup for example, and it's a one time kind of thing in attempt to get rid of the callus, no!.

If there is some kind of repeated urge to do it, and it relieves some kind of stress, that is called dermatillomania, and it's a form of self-mutilation!.

I read your edit, and I'm adding my own!. If he is trying to relieve boredom, that is a type of negative feeling, as is stress!. If he's doing this repeatedly, he may indeed have something like dermatillomania!. He would of course need an evaluation to get a true diagnosis however!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ahh, I know just what you're talking about, I just take off a bit of skin with a nail clipper and toss it away!. I guess it can be called self mutilation if you wanna get technical (because it can hurt be accident sometimes) but I wouldn't call it self mutilation at all, he doesn't really mean anything from it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

People self harm in a variety of ways, for a variety of reasons!. I started out just picking my skin when I was nervous and that progressed to burning and cutting!. He may not even know why he does it yet, but it's something to keep an eye on!.

Good luck, and take care!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
