Question: Financial help - councelling in the UK!?
Does anyone know of anywhere that helps young people afford councelling!?

My best friend is going but she can't keep up with the payments!.

Many thanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It depends how young she is and where she is getting counselling!.

She may be entitled to Disability Living Allowance (children and adults can get this)!.

If not, it may be worth going to a charity or organisation that offer free counselling!. There are so many, there's bound to be one nearby!. I live in Bristol and there's loads here, especially for young people!.

You could also tell her to go to her gp and find out about a referral on the NHS for counselling or psychotherapy - they usually differ, a psychotherapist can be a doctor (with a degree, etc) but a counsellor only needs a diploma!.!. however they can both be equally as helpful, and are free on the NHS!.

I saw a counsellor at a charity within Connexions, it was free, funded by the national lottery!. I also saw a counsellor at Drinksense!. I've also seen lots of psychotherapists at Community Mental Health Teams and inpatient psychiatric units!.

It does seem a shame, there may not be a way she can continue with the same therapist!. But she can build a new therapeutic relationship, I guess sometimes that just has to happen!. I only hope she isn't too far into therapy & attached to her therapist (I know the pain of seperation!)!.

Good luck, hope you find something! xWww@Answer-Health@Com
