Does this sound like OCD??!

Question: Does this sound like OCD!?!?
I have a notebook that I write down very important things!. It contains little tidbits of information I don't want to forget and also tips I figure out on how to do things!. I am anspiring actress, and I write down tips and just assuring thoughts I come up with to help me in my acting!.!.!.words of wisdom!. Once I write something down and put my notebook away, I feel like I have to check it and make sure I wrote it down and that I wrote it down properly, even though I know I did!. If I put something up in a drawer, after closing it I often open it back up again to make sure I put it up properly!. Like if it's a paper, to make sure it's not bending!. I don't live in a bad neighborhood, but I continually check my doors to make sure they are locked sometimes three times in a row!. If I save a document on my computer and then close out of it, I then open it back up right away to make sure everything is there!. When I set my alarm I check it several times afterwards!. Do you think I am OCD!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You are definitely showing signs of compulsive behavior!.

Fortunately, that's still quite a distance away from the whole OCD package!.

A lot of people have similar behavior, and it doesn't always lead to OCD!.

But it does show that you might have the potential to develop a problem!. No need to worry, but just be on the lookout, and try not to let the problem get bigger!. The real test is to see how much time these things are wasting every day!. If it's more than half an hour, then you should seek help as soon as possible!.

But you can prevent it before you get near there, by not letting it get bigger!. For example, try occasionally, to not check some of the things that you check!. Tell yourself that you want what you're writing in your notebook to be wrong!. Who cares!? You'll survive!. When you set your alarm clock, tell yourself "Who cares, if I set my alarm clock wrong, I'm going to oversleep, and that's what I want anyway"!. It really does help reduce the problem!. The thing is, if you feel like it's not important, you won't have any compulsions about it!.

If there's anything else you want to know, or if you just want to talk, please, feel free to email me!. I went through a horrible case of OCD a few years ago, and as a survivor, I'd be glad to help anyone else!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!.

The real question is whether it bothers you or not!. It depends on how much these activities interfer with your regular life!.

At this point, it doesn't sound too bad!. With a little bit of a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor, you would probably do well!. SSRIs are commonly referred to as anti-depressants!. This is not to say that you have clinical depression!. OCD is related to clinical depression because of the similar causes!.

I am not a doctor and nothing that I say here should be construed as medical advice!. Wear your seat belt and spay or neuter your pets!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it sounds like ocd!. the best thing to do is talk to a professional about it before it can get worse!. in the meantime refuse to do the things it tells you to do!. remember: ocd always lies!. if it tells you to check your notebook say out loud, "no! i know i wrote it down and i do not have to check it!." the same with all the other things!. let the anxiety pass through you!. just keep telling yourself, "i know i did that and i trust myself!." you'll porbably have to do it a hundred times a day but that's okay!. hang in there and talk to a therapist about it!. god bless!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
