As a long-time sufferor, I can tell you that I have had to try many different anti-depressants and my doctor has assured me that it is safe to stop one on one day and take the new one the next day (depending on the medicine, of course), but it just happens that I had to switch from zoloft to another and another to prozac and did that and I was fine!. I cannot say how it will affect you so definitely consult someone you trust, but I have had to do it many times as I have possible bi-polar disorder and cannot seem to get any one anti-depressant to work for more than a couple months at the most, which is a huge indicator of bi-polar!. I wish you the best of luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's been a long time since I switched SSRIs, but it seems like I just made an immediate change with no weaning at all!. It's possible that the mechanisms of action are closely related to enough of an extent that you wouldn't suffer any adverse effects!.

Any time I have a question about meds, I call my pharmacist!. I've found that since I have to take so many medications it's good to develop a good working relationship with at least one (if not 2, since people do take days off and go on vacation, etc) pharmacist that I consider to be trustworthy and knowledgeable!. Pharmacists work with these medications every day and answer countless questions about them; not to mention that they have at their disposal a wealth of resources to look up any information they don't know off-hand!. A lot of the time I trust my pharmacist more than my doctor when it comes to actually answering my questions about a medication!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would definitely ask your psychiatrist before you try doing anything on your own!. I see a psych and I love him!. I can relate to him and he gives me great advise and peace of mind!. I take Lexapro and Xanax about an hour or so before bed and I sleep very soundly and wake up feeling rested!. Research your medications first and find out the pros and cons before!. I use Google all the time which I feel is a great search engine!. But ask your dr first before anything!. You certainly don't want to start suffering any side effects!. Good Luck, feel betterWww@Answer-Health@Com

I stopped prozac and started celexa without the weening process because they were the same class of medication!. One replaces the other without interruption!.
NOTE: Do NOT attempt to change your medication without doctor's supervision!. What was right for me may be different for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes you should be lowering the dose of one as you are starting the other!. Otherwise you can have withdrawal problems!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
