Benzodiazapines?!

Question: Benzodiazapines!?
miracle drug or bad medicine!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
For physical addiction (not sure about psychological) Ativan is the worst, so stay away from it!. Klonopin is the "gold standard" by which they measure the effectiveness of all benzos, meaning it is the strongest!. The benefit of it is that it comes in time release form, which should lessen its addictive potential--but 10 years is an awfully long time!. They probably also had you on it, because it has the potential to act as a mood stabilizer!.
A lot of the SSRIs have the potential to reduce anxiety, as do some of the newer antipsychotics: Seroquel, etc!. My doctor had me on Seroquel for anxiety for several years and I had very good results from it--and it, like the SSRIs--doesn't have the same addictive potential!.
As one of the others said, you don't want to stop taking any of the benzos cold turkey!. They usually like to switch you to something not as strong, Valium for example, and then wean you off from there!. Whatever you do, though, DO NOT stop taking them without consulting your doctor!.
Just talk to your doctor and discuss what your options are--make sure you're completely honest about everything: what symptoms you're having, whether you've gotten in the habit of taking "a few extra" pills to get you through patches, or anything else that may be going on!. They have your best interest in mind, and won't deliberately switch you to something that won't control your anxiety!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm mixed on it!. I've had panic attacks for 20 yrs now along with anxiety and I've learned to manage it without medication!. I've been on some antianxiety meds like SSRI's (though they don't get along with me so well) but ultimately some good therapy (cognitive and reading the book 'Get out of your mind and into your life) has helped a lot!.

I still do have panic attacks fairly regularily, but they are more background noise than 'omg stop the bus' sort of things!. At worse I have to go do something like go for a drive or a walk!.

I think that each person handles things differently though!. What works for you is up to you as long as it doesn't get to a state where you are abusing the meds!. Best of luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Personally, I think it's a miracle drug!. I was put on xanax 2 months ago for panic attacks and it's the only thing that helps!. I'm on Lexapro too, but the xanax is necessary to me!. I have started seeing a counselor though, to see if I can go without the xanax and only take it as needed!. It is very addicting, but overall, it brought my life back!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Klonopin is the worst benzo there is, except for xanax!. It's not just bad medicine, it's horrific medicine!. Please check out the following web site, and if you want more info, email me!. I spent over two years of my life learning about these drugs!.

Do not abruptly stop any benzodiazepine!. They must be tapered very slowly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

xanax is far more addictive than kolopin!. on the other hand xanax is far better for panic attacks!. Kolopin relaxes your mind but xanax relaxes your mind and body, this is why xanax is also given for muscle spasms!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

SSRIs are the prefered method of treating panic attacks these days because SSRIs are non addictive!. But if you are stable on clonazapam, you may not need to switch!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think you should get on prozac that's not addictive and it works great!Www@Answer-Health@Com
