I have suffered from panic attacks and anxiety for 8 years!. I was on anti depressants for 2 years, and then I got off of them because they didn't help with my anxiety or panic attacks!. The way that I try to control them, is when you feel one coming on, I try to get myself busy with something else, because the more you think about the panic attack the worst it gets!. I sometimes also call someone that knows that I get them and tell them just to talk to me!. The worst thing you can say to someone having a panic attack is are you okay, or are you still having the panic attack!. Saying that only reminds them that they were having it, and it makes it worst!. The best thing is to ask them how there day was, or if you have something planned, ask them about the plans you have!. Something that will get their mind off of freaking out about the panic attack!. Ice water helps me too!. Hope I've been helpfulWww@Answer-Health@Com

Panic Attacks are a tricky thing to deal with for both the person experiencing it and the people around them!. Yes, he may be on anti-depressants but that doesn't mean it is going to "cure" him!. He may be on the wrong kind or the wrong dosage so that is something he may have to discuss with his doctor!. What can you do!? There really isn't much to do except try to be patient and understanding!. I'm sure it makes him feel bad enough without having to hear how bad it is from other people!. One thing HE can do though is get together with a therapist and start working on techniques that can help calm him down when he is in anxiety provoking situations!. Hope I helped =) and good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Has he thought about herbal treatments!? I suffered anxiety and panic attacks for a while and then my doctor recommended I try St!. Johns Wort!. Its a herbal supplement that is for positive moods and helps take the edge off of things!. I saw an improvement after a few weeks of being on them!. It's also a lot safer than other medications!.

As for what YOU can do, I'm not sure there is much!. Usually when suffering a panic attack it's a very personal thing where no matter the good intention of others it just doesn't change anything!.

I suggest alternative treatments, like herbal!. Have him talk to his doctor about it!.

Hope I helped!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hmm!. I wonder how long he has been having the attacks, and how long he has been on the anti depessant!. This is rather important to know!.
Anti depressants take weeks to work, and some do NOT help with anxiety or panic attacks!.
Do NOT go the xanax, or klonopin way!.!. they are too addiciting-then he would have another problem!.
4 fold breathing really helps me:
Breathe out, through the nose, to the count of 4!. then stop for the count of 4, then breathe in with your nose to the count of 4, then stop to the count of 4, then breath out to the count of 4!.
Get him to practice it, it really, really works!. My pychologist gave it to me!.
I used to have bad panic attacks while driving!. YES-driving!.!. IT WAS HELL!.
Now, even when an attack comes, it is so mild, I do nothing but breathe and it is gone so fast!.
I really feel for you boy friend!.!. tell him there is hope!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

help him do things to get rid of the stress that is causing them
good music, take a walk, do nice things together, watch a funny movie
instead of antidepressants, good vitamins, healthy diet and tell him to talk to someone, if not you only, maybe also with his family or a male friend of his, someone who can relate to himWww@Answer-Health@Com

well he may need to change anti depressents or what i had to was to take valium as well and when i was having a panic attack i would do is concentrate on my breathing when i breathe in and when breathing out say to my self relax and repeat till panic attack was goneWww@Answer-Health@Com
