Answers:
i use to be a self injurer and for me anyways
it was compulsive at first!. like i had to do it or id have this horrible feeling and i just needed to do it to make it go away

and then it became an addiction, that every time i had that feeling, id just go and cut, and seeing the blood and my arm going numb was all i wanted when i felt like that!.

seeing pictures and stuff made me ashamed, cause no one knew i did that, and watching it in movies and stuff just made me want to never tell anyone and made me think i had something really wrong with me cause i did that!.
but it was different cause it was an understanding of how that person was feeling and why they did it and how they felt and stuff!.

i got over the "addiction" though because people saw and id try and stop as much as possible and i looked for other things to do to let my emotion out!. and it helped a bit, but would i do it again!?
in a heart beat!.
you crave it sometimes!.!.
i dont no its weird and its hard for someone who doesnt self injurer them self to understand!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Self injury is a coping mechanism that some people use to get through tough times in their lives!. Some people do it so they can feel pain, some people do it because they feel like it gives them control over something in their lives!. Some people do it because they like to see the blood, it stimulates them!. I don't think that it is addiction or a compulsion initially, but it could turn into either one depending on the person!. As far as triggering goes, it is different for different people!. Some people look at pictures and it makes them want to hurt themselves, while other people can ignore that but get triggered by conversations with other people, or certain situations!. In any case, it is important for self-injurers to get help, even if the only help you can get is to tell a friend!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on the person!.!.!.

Self-injury is a coping mechanism!.!.!.

Some people are addicted to the endorphins which are released as a result of the self-injury and give them a "high" or relieved feeling!. Others suffer from a compulsion to cut as a result of stress, mental disorder, etc!. They may feel the need to control something in their lives!.!.!.

Either way, a self-injurer usually needs help (therapy, counseling, etc!.) to quit!. It can take months or years depending on the person, and some people may never stop!.

Some self-injurers find pictures of SI triggering!. They feel the need to self-harm in response to the pictures!.

Some see pictures and are repulsed!. The pictures may make them feel the need to quit self-harming!.

For others, seeing it has no effect on them!.

Hope this helps!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

starts differently in every person, then becomes addiction, dont know how to deal with things in another way, get unhappy when out, automatically think "oh ill have to do that when i get home" or try and subtely do it when your out, never works!.
after, feel proud of what you've done, but also ashamed, dont want people too see!.

pictures, no idea, never seen any, dont want to, i think it might trigger to go further!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is a vile compulsion from a tortured mind, as the effect of a deal they cant refuse, made by an entuty which thrives ont he devastation and death of others!. Yhese people are sad , sad cases of people!.

I attempt to help everyone i can!. I know for a fact, there are many adults out there whom do not know how to use a computer, or get online to come here for help!. They also do neot know how to ask for help!.

However, it is also so pleasing to me,sto see this answers forum, where young, and old alike can ask serious questions and get serious answers just for the asking!. "YAHOO YOU ARE GENIUS"! I hope top se more adults asking and getting help, but i am happy there are so many children getting real help here!.

Also as an older adult 57 i have a very extensive database on survival!. Positive thinking is a self trained psychosid=s for me!. These two things, and the fact i am a "TEACHER" allow me to help almost anyone!. seeing pictures of it will place it into your database as a conscious thought , which will reoccur!. This is neither posotive nor negative, but you can get caught up in their minfd if you are not careful!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it is a severe addiction that causes compulsion!. [bulimia is an addiction too, by the way]!. i learned this when i went into an adolescent psychiatric unit for evaluation because i was self harming with like 1200 cuts all over my body!. its almost impossible to control and its always on the person's mind!.

seeing pictures of it definitely is triggering!. i have been self-injury-free for seven months now and it's amazing!. but if i hear about people self-injuring or see pictures of it i still sometimes have a craving for that!.

hope this helps!.!

Its an addiction, once you start it is very hard to stop!. It is the only way a person knows how to express themselves it makes the person feel better both inside and out!. Sometimes pictures can make you want to, its mainly a mind thing though, it is very addicting, I am an ex cutter its a struggle but I am doing great now on my own!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think it starts out as a compulsion!. Like, feeling the need to do it when you're upset, angry, etc, then it leads to addiction!.

Seeing pictures of it can or can't have an effect on you!. Maybe some people like seeing pictures because they think it's cool how bad some cuts can be!. And then there are other people who hate doing it and looking at it, but do it anyway!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think there are quite a few methods that can be classified as "Self Injury"!.
Addiction, drugs, alcohol, bulimia and OCD can all be ways of self injuring!. The list could go on and on!.
Seeing pictures can indeed be triggering for some people!.
For others it helps them know they do not want to hurt themselves!. I hope you will never feel like hurting yourself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think that is a compulsion!. Like bulimia or anorexia is having control of something physical because you don't have control of other things!. It gives a feeling of relief!. I don't know about the pictures thing!. I don't like the sight of blood but I still used to cut!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would say it is more of an addiction!. It really depends on the person though and their reason for SI!. The majority of people do it because it releases endorphins that make them feel good!. And as for the pictures that really depends on the person!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
