Slowly becoming Schizophrenic ? (Experts only)?!

Question: Slowly becoming Schizophrenic !? (Experts only)!?
I hope you don't mind me asking this annoying question!. Here's my concern!.

Reasons why I believe I am becoming schizophrenic slowly

1) I have Pure Obsessional OCD
2) I smoked Marijuana 30 Times (small quantities) starting at age 21
3) I had paranoid thoughts while I was under the influence of THC and now carry those in my sober state due to OCD
4) I am overly concerned with becoming schizophrenic
5) I feel like I am going to have a psychotic break anytime soon!.
6) i am 23 yrs!. old and the age of onset is between 15 and 25
7) I feel like because I smoked weed I am doomed to become schizo since I am already mentaly unstable because of my OCD

What are the odds of me becoming schizo with
1) none of my parents having Schizophrenia or any other m!.disorder
2) being born prematurely with low birth weight
3) My brother being Epileptic
4) Taken risperdal 0!.5 MG for about 1 month for OCD
5) Had Febrile seizure as an infant

What are your thoughts !?

You sound more like someone who has been negatively affected by drugs, rather than someone who is schizophrenic!.

When someone finds out about what a disorder is, they start to look for symptoms that they "might" or "think" they have!. Med students do it all the time, as well as psychology students when they learn about mental illnesses - it's called "self diagnosis" and it's flawed!. I feel that is what you're doing!.

Nothing (besides the OCD which even then isn't a symptom of a schizophrenic) seems to be psychotic!. Like you said, you did drugs!.

Your seizure and your low birth weight don't contribute to the disorder you think you have!. I will show you the symptoms of a schizophrenic!. Do NOT try to fit yourself into these categories just because they are typed out, stick to what you said before and you'll see that none of what you said "fits the bill" of a schizophrenic!.

There are two categories of symptoms for this illness: negative and positive!. I do not mean "good and bad"!. Negative means that something is being taken away and positive means that there's something there now that was not there before!.

Ex of Negative: loss of desire to be social, loss of interest in activities

Positive: hallucinations (auditory, visual, taste), extreme paranoia (remember yours is likely caused by drug use)

This is from Schizophrenia!.Com and is very good information:

More symptoms:

"lack of emotion - the inability to enjoy regular activities (visiting with friends, etc!.) as much as before
Low energy - the person tends to sit around and sleep much more than normal
lack of interest in life, low motivation
Affective flattening - a blank, blunted facial expression or less lively facial movements, flat voice (lack of normal intonations and variance) or physical movements!.
Alogia (difficulty or inability to speak)
Inappropriate social skills or lack of interest or ability to socialize with other people
Inability to make friends or keep friends, or not caring to have friends
Social isolation - person spends most of the day alone or only with close family" - http://www!.schizophrenia!.com/diag!.php#co!.!.!.

My personal opinion - you don't have it!. Go see your family doctor before you make any conclusions!. She should know your family history and personal health even better than you do!.

**Your fear of a big episode because you're 23 is simply that: you're a young person trying to find your life path in the world, and it's stressful!. I'm exactly where you are right now!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your odds of becoming schizophrenic are no more than that of the general population (i!.e!., around 1%)!.

Your OCD is fueling this concern!. Your obsession with with the (exceedingly low) likelihood that you will develop schizophrenia sounds as if it is becoming intense!. It is not uncommon for folks with OCD to fixate on disease processes (real or imagined)!.

If you are not receiving treatment for your OCD, you would be wise to do so!.

Its more of the OCD getting to you!. My mother is schizophernic, it's something that your born with, not something that you gain!. To be completely sure, I'd ask a professional and they'd be able to distinguish whether you may have it or not!. Don't worry so much since it is rare!.

I feel your fear since I've lived in the same houshold as it for all of my childhood!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Regardless of symptoms and/or diagnoses you will still be faced with making a life for yourself!. You need friends to spend time with, satisfying (not too stressful) work (for pay or volunteer), hobbies and interests!. You, like all other people, should exercise some each day and be current with events in the world!. The rest of the stuff becomes incidental when you really start to fill up your life with meaningful activities!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

speak to a professional , who will be able to make a clinical assessment
stay away from mind altering substances - obviously!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Why do you need the statistics!? What difference does it make!? Either you have one or more problems or you don't!. Either you suspect some of these problems are getting worse or you don't!. Or you are worried about something!. You are worried about developing full-blown schizophrenia (whatever that is)!? Perhaps this is a legitimate concern!. Get an appointment with a shrink and get an assessment of your current mental state and an assessment as to whether anything should be done about it!. If you have a developing mental illness then it can be monitored and treatment can be adjusted appropriately over the years ahead!. And also do something about all of your existing problems even if they are not too serious at the moment!. A doctor may be able to help with these as well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

lol weed had nothing to do with turning schizo!.!.!.probably the OCD though, but im sure only 30 times is not enough to affect you!.!.!.!.schizo is pretty serious you see things that arent there or distorted perception of reality!.!.so i beleive people with schizo dont know it,cuz its a split personality thing!.!.for example me myself and irene he didnt remember when he turned into hank (but thats a pretty bad case of schizo)!.!.!.i think its your OCD that comsumes you!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.most cases of schizo dont come out until your mid life like 30 yrs and older!.!.!.!.it almost sounds like you wanna be schizo just to say your schizo as to why i dont know im guessing the ocd!.!.!.!.!.!.well sometimes a mental break is good, cuz i built up emotions for 5 years and when i finaly expoded i felt better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

None of your symptoms are psychotic!. Psychotic episodes are characterized by the person not being able to distinguish non-reality from reality!. A bipolar person can hear voices and hallucinate, but they can tell these experiences are not real!. A psychotic person thinks they are real!.

Marijuana does not cause a psychotic episode, no matter how many times you took it!.

Work with your psychiatrist for proper diagnosis and treatment!. Keep them fully informed on your response to treatment so that they can find a good med mix for you and provide appropriate therapy to help you overcome your OCD!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
