Question: Since 75% of seritonin is made in the colon how come!?
So many depressed and anxious people would rather take medication than get their body cleaned up naturally and exercise!? It seems like it would be so much simpler than being on medication for the rest of your life!.

Show me a depressed person and youll be showing me a person that never eats fruit or healthy food!.!.!. and one that eats fast food, processed or boxed foods, and doesnt exercise!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well said which is why I'm trying to clean my body up!. I won't go to the doctor!. The only time I've gone to the doctor is for a diagnosis and even they were useless at that!. I believe a good diet low in sugar,refined carbs, caffeine etc is the way to go!. I've also given up alcoholWww@Answer-Health@Com

Two reasons:
1!. Serotonin doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier - which is why ppl take SSRIs not serotonin!.
2!. Serotonin has almost nothing to do with depression - which is why SSRIs barely work better than placebo!.

I do agree a healthy diet is important and an overprocessed diet can make people lethargic, even down!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well, when you get depressed you just feel like doing nothing!. it's as simple as that!. i find it hard being bothered to exercise when i'm in a NORMAL mood, let alone a miserable one! besides, people who eat healthily and exercise can get depressed too, though the instance is probably lower!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i exercise 3-5x a week and eat healthy and don't take any meds!. My depression has improved significantly because of this but it hasn't gone completely as i still have insomnia etc and i've been doing this for a year!.

i agree with you to some extent but in some cases i think you really do need the medsWww@Answer-Health@Com

I was depressed all through high school and I ate quite healthfully and played soccer 3 hours a day 3 days a week!. Sometimes exercise and a good diet are enough!. Sometimes they're not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That IS the first line of defense and offense for depression!. However, it doesn't work so great when the problem is that the body serotonin isn't getting to the brain receptors, when the brain receptors aren't adequately uptaking the serotonin, or when serotonin deficiency isn't the problem!. There are other neurotransmitters implicated!. There are bipolar and schizoaffective disorders!. There are psychological issues and disorders!. Most of these cannot be resolved by diet and exercise alone!.

Like many here already responded, I spent years aerobically exercising a few hours six days a week and ate a very healthy diet to stay out of the "fog!." I barely kept on it's edges but I still was depressed when it was around!. When I wasn't exercising, the fog set in and I ended up somewhat psychotic on top of depressed!. So, I'm not arguing, just pointing out that your points only apply to normal depression as a stand alone solution!.

PS - I don't understand choosing a pill over diet and exercise!. Not finding time is a pathetic excuse!. I really don't get that! I find the time for exercise and therapy, and would gladly trade in the pills to manage bipolar disorder if there was a truly viable alternative!. It's called priorities and time management!.

True Hope has been promising peer reviewed scientific research to back it's claims up for years!. None, absolutely none, has been put forth!. Why!? They can't support it!. The market is huge!. Many people do not have time to exercise or prepare natural food to cure their depression due to their busy life!.Others are simply lazy because preparing natural food and exercising requires effort!.It requires work and work is unpleasant for most people!.It is so much easier to take a pill and get it over with quickly then being patient and diligent in consuming your vitamins,minerals,proteins and omega 3 fatty acids every day!.Fortunately or unfortunately there are no shortcuts to good health!.Everything good in life requires an effort!.Laziness is the path toward self destruction and work is the path toward salvation!.Depression and insomnia along with many other if not all of human diseases are caused by the lack of omega 3 fatty acids that most of humanity is serously deficient!.The death and destruction that we witness every day is the consequence of our mental imbalance that can be cured with a simple change of the diet and a little bit of will power!.Sadly most people are blind to what many believe is a fact and will never learn because they are too lazy to learn because learning requires effort!.Again!.

Everything unnatural is harmful for our health!.Humans have created a society where artificial food and natural food with man made added substances dominate the stores and their tables!.They have separated themselves from natural food that could satisfy all their needs without harming them in substitute for easy life in the big city with fast food at every corner and in every street and with drugs that work quickly and temporarily removing their pain and poisoning themselves with it in the process!.Pharmaceutical companies along with all the other poison manufacturers happily provide the ignorant consumer with what he needs for his short term functioning and giving the merchant what he needs and that is satisfaction for his never ending greed with no compassion for his fellow man and his suffering!.The way it is going now the human society is going to be flushed down the toilet!.

Natural food is the only thing that will enable us to take the next step in evolution!.As it has been doing for thousands of years!.
