Eating problems?!

Question: Eating problems!?
Now, I know I'm quite fat, and recently I've been lying about what I've been eating!. In fact, I throw away, my lunch, my breakfast, and only eat around half my dinner (which ends up being my only meal of the day)!. Even then, I feel guilty as I know that I should be making a bigger effort to lose weight!. I feel disguisting nowadays at swimming competitions and stuff, as I hate how I look!. I do admit, I've started to, umm!.!.!. spew up my dinner a few times, but I could probably stop if I tried!. I'm 16, weight 75kg, and I'm around 6"1!.

There's a photo of me!.

What I wanted to make sure was: Is this behavior common with dieting!? And does anyone have any tips on how I could continue to lose weight without continuing to draw comments from my friends and classmates!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
This behaviour is not common with dieting although it often becomes an end result of intentions that start out as simple diets to lose weight and then it starts controlling your life and you can't stop, even when you are at a healthy weight or lower, or when you start to adopt unhealthy habits to lose weight!.

You will continue to draw comments as long as people care about you and if you are getting too thin (i!.e!. underweight) then people are going to try and reach out to you in an effort to help you before you get sucked too far into the disease of an eating disorder!. By what you said, you are likely on your path to becoming anorexic if you are not all ready!. Only a doctor can diagnose you, and it is very important that you seek medical attention and counselling as eating disorders are disasterous to your health and cause long term health complications that you won't even think about until you are suffering years down the road!. Although purging (spewing) is commonly associated with bulimia, since you do not binge, your behaviours indicate that you likely have anorexia as the amount of calories you are consuming is considered a starvation diet and you are voluntarily doing this!. In addition to voluntary starvation, those who suffer from anorexia control their body weight by purging, using laxatives, exercising obsessively, or through drugs that suppress the appetite such as diet pills!. It is not a psychiatric disorder that only occurs in females either as many people believe - 10% of those with anorexia are male so don't feel like you are alone or out of place!.

I hope you do not feel like I am preaching to you - I am in the same boat as you are however I have been "playing" with this eating disorder for over 5 years and the last six months have been the most serious in regards to my behaviours and weight loss and health/mental problems as of yet!. If I could have never started, I like to think that I wouldn't have!. But the actual act of starvation is addicting as it gives you a euphoric high similar to drugs and being manic if you have Bipolar Disorder, which I do, that a lot of the time I don't WANT to stop!.

But currently, I am not getting my period regularly anymore which means my fertility is going to be affected to a certain degree in the future and my bones are deteriorating due to hormonal imbalance caused by starvation!. With anorexics, your heart takes the biggest beating and it is not uncommon for those who are severe in this disorder to have a heart attack while they are under 25!. With either anorexia or bulimia, most of the damage is irreparable and the longer you hold on to the behaviours and do not seek help in the form of counselling and/or medication and/or inpatient hospitalization, the harder it becomes to recover later in life as it becomes more ingrained in you and it is harder to separate the disorder from the real you!.

Please email me wishfull_chill@yahoo!.com anytime if you would like to talk, or to join an amazing Yahoo! support group that will accept you no matter where you are at in your eating disorder, ready to recover or not, go to http://health!.groups!.yahoo!.com/group/Ano!.!.!.

I hope to see you there to talk to you more in depth and I really hope this answer was helpful and was what you were looking for!.

Yeah, I must agree - you aren't anywhere near obese!. Don't let an eating disorder take over your life, or take your life!

If you want to loose weight, you really WANT to eat breakfast - you should be getting calories in the short-term, but throughout the day, your metabolism will be higher!.

Exercise and avoid junk, but anorexia/bolemia is NOT something you want to get into!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

See bulimia, in section 39, at http://www!.ezy-build!.net!.nz/~shaneris and seek help with this, urgently, because bulimia has a high death rate, and causes a lot of damage to people's bodies otherwise, even if they recover!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you're really not fat at all, but if you want to lose weight you should eat healthy and exercise!. maybe you should see a counsellor because you really don't need to lose weight!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well if that is you, you are definatly not overweight!!! you look great!

I would say though that you sound like you have other issues going on and this can sometimes come out in different ways ie worrying about your weight!.

Throwing up food is dangerous and you need to stop!

If you really want to lose weight then you need to do it healthily and not eating will NOT make you lose weight!. In fact not eating will cause you to bloat and make your stomach look big!.

Best thing to do is eat foods low in fat, excersise, drink pleanty of water!. eat things like fruit, veg, cereal, chicken (white meats) ice lollies are good too the ones without ice cream!.

Also at 16 you still havent stop growing, most people at your age go through a phase when your weight goes up and then you level out!. But please dont stop eating, you will make yourself sick and you really wont lose weight that way!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You just might be on your way to being anorxixic!. I did not spell that right!. Anytime you throw up food and throw away lunches it is a bad sign!. You have a self image problem!. What you see, is VERY different from what we see!. I see a healthy kid!. Certainly not a FAT teenager!. If you see differently than you have a medical problem!. Talk to your doctor about the way you see yourself!. Make sure that they understand this is how you feel!. Tell them how you throw whole meal away and sometimes throw up!. Your doctor should offer you a solid plan to follow!. If not, tell your mom you need another doctor!. It would be a good idea to tell your parents and print these responses!., so they know how serious this issue is!. Anorexia is a SERIOUS illness that people can DIE from!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
