How to Best Help Homeless Niece?!

Question: How to Best Help Homeless Niece!?
I have $1000 that I would like to give my homeless niece!. (She is homeless due to drug and alcohol abuse and mental problems)!. She lives too far away for me to give it to her in person!. What would be a good way to get that money to her and yet make sure she doesn't run out and spend it all right away!? I have thought of sending her a money order for $100 a month for 10 months (she doesn't have a bank account), but I am wondering if there is a better way!. Having her move in with me is not an option!Www@Answer-Health@Com

How about send her monthly gift cards to a local department/discount store (e!.g!., Target, Wal Mart)!? That way, she can get some necessities, and also not have to have a bank account to make the money useful!. In addition, you'll be assured it's not being spent on drugs/alcohol!.

Best of luck finding a solution that works for you,

If you can email me do that cause I have personal experience with this and you can't understand it unless you do!. If you can get her into a treatment center that would be the best thing!. I don't know if Salvation Army will take her but they might be able to help you find a place this is the best thing you can do!. You have to be very careful to understand how to help her cause if you don't do it right she will end up worst off!. You are such a great person!. If you can email me please remind me of your question cause I try to help alot of people & get alot of mail!.EDIT: don't tell the treatment centers you have money for her just save it!. They might be able to get her in & get the help for her but if you tell them they will accept it & she might leave & you will be out of your money!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do not send her the money, even $100 a month!. She will use it for drugs!. Do you think she would be willing to attend any type of treatment program if she knew at least $1,000 would be paid for!. Can you get her other relatives to contribute!? If not, I think the best thing you can do is prepay a motel for her to stay in and make sure they do not refund her money and maybe prepay a restaurant for food, again don't let them refund!. This is a really tough situation!. You are a very kind person!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wouldn't give her the money! Start going through the paper for apartments where ever she is - pay the landlord DIRECTLY! OR, if she's staying in a shelter, contact them to find out if there's a case manager who can oversee things or put you/her in contact with a social service organization that would help her plan/budget accordningly, help her find a job, etc!. She's lucky to have family like you willing and able to help her - hope she doesn't let you down!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

how about try and get her off the streets, like give her numbers to shelters, so she can get back on her feet, instead of giving her money, i would invest it in sending her some canned food, a few nice outfits, some cleansing products, so she can look and smell decent to go out there and get a job!Www@Answer-Health@Com

do not sen dher this money!!!!!!!! She is still abusing drugs and alcohol otehrwise she would be in a speacial program where she can sleep /live at until she done with rehab which is liek 6 plus months! Do not send thi smoney bcuz if shes not in rehab she can relapse soo fast she'll say shes using teh money to buy interview clothes but she'll be using alcohol and drugs instead with the money!. If u don't mind giving her the money and if she dosn't have to pay it back and when she is better and has a decent place to stay then u should do so ! The best way is for her to call u somehow but be careful since u odn't wnat to be spending ur money on her drugs abusing !. She should be in a program instead!. If u wanna send money send liek 50 bucks for toilietries and food taht way she dons't hav eextra to blow on drugs and drinks!. But u know how she is and her habits so its up to u!. Good luck!:)Www@Answer-Health@Com
