Question: Please explain the difference between bipolar ll, hypomania, and anxiety!.!.!.!?
Thank you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Okay, you understand about bipolar disorder!.
Bipolar I is mania and depression
Bipolar II is hypomania and depression

Bipolar II is running up and down the street shopping
Bipolar I is running up and down the street w/ no clothes!.
That's just an analogy obviously!. BPI can have psychotic features, whereas BPII really doesn't!.

Hypomania is a lower grade mania!. You don't get so manic that you enter into a psychotic state!. You tend to be more irritable, impatient, less need for sleep, hypersexual, you might be more careless with money, but you aren't going to go out and blow your life savings on 4 new cars, a brand new wardrobe and a new house!. It's a question of degree!.

So hypomania is part of bipolar II!. Anxiety can also be part of bipolar II, but to somewhat less of an extent!. Anxiety is basically the jittery, nervous, "something bad is going to happen" feeling that everyone gets occasionally, but for some of us it becomes a problem because it interferes with our daily lives!. The way some people respond to anxiety will occasionally lead doctors to assume they are hypomanic, especially if their anxiety is causing sleep disturbances, diminished appetite, restlessness, etc!.

I hope I've managed to put this into understandable terms without rendering it useless!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bipolar II is characterized by at least one major depressive episode and at least one hypomanic episode that does not progress into psychotic mania!.

Hypomania- A condition similar to mania but less severe!. The symptoms are similar with elevated mood, increased activity, decreased need for sleep, grandiosity, racing thoughts, and the like

Anxiety is a feeling of nervousness, apprehension, fear, or worry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bipolar II is less severe than Bipolar I!. There is still a depressive phase, but the manic phase isn't as intense!. Typically the person feels happy, on top of the world, but isn't experiencing the mania the way a person with Bipolar I would!. While a person with Bipolar II can make risky choices, the mania in Bipolar II isn't as bad as the mania in Bipolar I!. The manic phase in Bipolar II is generally a hypomania (all of the things I just described)!.

Anxiety is the feeling of dread and worry!. Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bipolar is when you make a decision and think it's the best one minute, the next think OH ****, what did I do!.

Also, your mood changes constantly - like exceedingly happy, or ridiculously sad!.

Anxiety is when you think everything will go wrong, or you're always worried, stressed, even if there is very little stress in your life!.

Hypomania I don't know!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
