Question: I am a 20 year old man, with many problems!?
Ok, here is the lowdown!.

I am a lonely person, I have never been one to go out much, and I don't think I ever will, I have a mediocre life and a decent paying job, however!. I cannot let go of things past, I have a tendacy to overthink things to the point of obbsession and I don't like myself!. The problem is I see the worst in people all the time, doing pyshcology hasn't helped! I try to justify peoples' horrible behaviour towards me with intellectual responses and a facade of smiling and cheery banter, however it's becoming too much for me to handle!.

I no longer sleep, and I can't think straight all the time, I am always depressed and have trouble talking to people, I have lied to a lot of people and I don't like it, and I have made some people upset because i'm to forwards!. I can't find an equilibrium anywhere, I am single and think I will be forever!. This is getting me down A LOT, i'm smart enough to realise I need help, however any response would ease my councience!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

go see ur G!.P!. tell him exactly how u r feeling, tell him/her that u would really like to be refered to speak to someone e!.g!. phsychiatrist, psychologist, etc, ask who they recomend, find out if the G!.P!. thinks that maybe an anti-depressant might help (I think it would, I am on them and they help a lot, life is better with them, for me)
U remind me a lot of myself buddy, when I was ur age I was in a similar situation, I am now 31, married with 2 kids, not long found out that I have a mood disorder thats why I have always been depressed and full of self doubt, I have always found it hard to talk to people too, I used to self medicate all through my teens and into my 20's with drink and drugs, beleive me this is not the way to go, just makes u feel even worse in the long run!
but hang in there, go get help, things will get better if u do!

It looks like you also see the worst in yourself! I bet there's something that you're really good at! You should find it and take advantage of it!. You have a future ahead of you, don't give up hope! And don't listen to what other people say about you!. It's not that hard to make friends either!. At first, you'll feel good!. If i was to write about my life it would be no different from yours except i am 18 and i am unemployed!.

It sounds like you could have a combination of problems going on!. Don't get me wrong! We all have our issues, including me!.

It might surprise you to know that you have some symptoms of depression and its relative, (Bi-polar disorder)!.Trust me, it isn't easy to deal with!. But friends and myself have found help in psychiatric counseling and medications

And I have friends who also share your symptoms!. Sometimes they hide themselves away and choose not to go out!.!.!.for whatever reason that seems to make sense at the time!. I think there is a need for an occasional outlet!.

Go to a movie!. Find someone in a support group that you can pal around with!. These are only suggestions!. You will find what works best for you through trial and error and experimentation!. You will be a good judge of what is and is not acceptable and appropriate in time!.

After all you are intelligent!. You will know how to deal with life's issues soon enough, but give it time for you are young and your life is ahead of you!

As I said, help is in the form of a psychiatrist who can work with you in order to get your life back & in control!. This is done through a combination of counceling and medication(s)!. Trust me, I know! They help to balance your existence!.

Some times the above, by itself, can be enough to feel normal!. And can be enough to have a more fulfilling life!

Dude, your much to hard on yourself !! Maybe you need to sit down and have a talk with yourself!. As they say count your blessings, because I bet there are a lot of them!. Negative energy, always seems to find us !.!.!.but we really have to put a effort into finding the positive energy!. I agree with a lot of the responses, talk to some one, that can guide you, help you through this troubled time!. If not your parents, grandparents, then find a mentor!. Mediation technique

We experience life through our mind!.
Experiences are what they are, but the mind often puts a new spin on them, making them seem worse at times!.
This produces the pain we feel inside, and when it builds up enough we either hurt others or ourselves!.
Not because we are bad or evil, but we aren't sure how to deal with the agony inside!.
The longer it stays, the more dead/dull we feel inside!.

Meditation is all about controlling you mind rather than being controlled by it!.
It is difficult to directly approach the mind and tame it, so we start by approaching the nearest manifestation of it- breath!.
It can be seen that when we have tremendous concentration we are not breathing as regularly, and when upset breath shallow and rapid!.

How to do this!.
Begin by becoming aware of your breath!.
With each inhalation pay attention to the air entering you right nostril(air will enter both,but focus on the column of air in the right side)
Exhale and pay attention to the column leaving your left nostril!.
Inhale and pay attention to air entering the left nostril
Exhale and pay attention to air exiting the right nostril!.
Then breath deep and feel the air in both sides rise up to the tip of your nose(like an inverted V ),
and push it all out(feeling both sides)!.
This is one cycle, you can do up to 100 in a day!.

It is a simple game to keep the mind busy(if you loose track on count restart), and off the things it can't change with worry(realistically everything)!.
As you get better at this you'll be able to identify a space between your thoughts!. As that awareness deepens you'll feel a peace when it arises!. And soon you should be able to identify yourself as that peace rather than your mind!.

You should try talking to a therapist!.!.!.It may help you with the helpless feelings that you're having!. I know how you feel, but the only way to unburden yourself is to find an outlet for your issues and feeling!.!.!.That could be taking up a hobby that you're good at!.!.!.Somehing that can give you a sense of accomplishment!. Other than that, I know that it's hard to see outside of your situation when you're in it, but just try to relax and take the days as they come!. I think sumone needs a dosage of happiness in their life!. And maybe a reality check or 2!.

I do gotta say though, that i agree with the above person, you arent the only one!. LIfe is hard, and its a rollercoaster ride up and down, but to be honest with you you cant just sit around a mope about it!. Get up and smell the coffee, life is beautiful there are so many things to do in it, I think you may be shy, i think you need to get out there and start talkin to ppl!. You are in desparate need of a social life!. Start at your job, i bet you do talk to sum ppl, ask them if they wanna hang out sumtime, go for beers or pool, be a guy have fun!.

As for your over thinking, i am sorta the same way sumtimes, but i have learned to realized is that things happen for a reason if **** goes down the drain, no point to over react, just enjoy life, have a good time, be yourself, it is harder than it sounds but then again, who cares!? sum will accept you sum wont!. if you meet sumone and they think your a wierdo, who cares, its not like you'll ever seem them again, it may be only one person!. one person out of the whole world that things your weird!. BIG DEAL!.!.they're proabbly weird themselves!. everybody has a lil whacko in them lol!.

I also think your very judgemental by saying that you see the worst in ppl all the time!. don't do that, cause then how else are you supposed to meet ppl!. give ppl a chance, be NICE!.!.!.i think thats what you also lack!.!.your a meanie, no one likes a perosn like that!.!.!.you probably try to joke around with your intellectual responces, facade of smiling, and cheery banter, but i think that you may overdo it maybe, or maybe ppl dont understand your humour, since they probably dont know you!.

dont be to forward with ppl, dont say things to a full extent, because that will help you cross the line with ppl!. you may think your being funny!./nice but your probably being offensive which you may not realize because that is what your used to!.

As for being single and what not!. dont even worry about being in a relationship at this point in time!. you have to work on yourself and your problems first before you pull in another person into your life!. there are plenty of fishh in the sea and dont worry none of them are going anywhere!.
