What to do about my husband?!
Question: What to do about my husband!?
So my husband has anxiety and depression!. The doctor perscribed him Lexapro and Xanex!. That was over a month ago!. I think he's getting addicted to the Xanex!. He takes the 1mg pills - at least 3 or 4 a day!. At one time he was taking 7 or 8!. This weekend he ran out of the pills!. He was freaking out!. He says "I can't focus without them!" "I need them to consentrate" and "They make me feel better"!. He doesn't get out of bed without them!. He even had me go buy some from someone we know - $60 on 8 pills!! and he took them all in 24 hours!. Now I'm trying to get his doctor to give him more, but part of me wants to just take him to the hospital!.!.!. Has anyone been through this before!? I love him and I don't want him to suffer, but I want him to get better!. I just don't know what to do!.

Ok, yes, he is definitely addicted!. Xanax is highly addictive, and people can become addicted to it in three days!. He cannot, however, just stop taking it!. Please go to the following web site;

There is a lot of other good information on this site that has been painstakingly compiled by people who became addicted to benzodiazepines simply by following their doctors orders, and by health professionals who know the dangers of these drugs!. Xanax is the worst one!. It's so addictive that in some other countries, it is illegal to prescribe it to anyone for longer than 21 days!. If he is not taking them as perscribed then, yes, there is a serious problem and you should definately nofity his doctor about it!. It sounds like he may be abusing them!.
If he is taking them as perscribed and he doesn't feel right when he misses a dose, that is normal!. It may feel, to him, like he is going through withdrawls and that is no fun at all!.
It does sound to me like maybe you should check with his doctor though!.

I took Xanex for anxiety!. In no way do those pills help you concentrate! I use to call them the "I don't give a sh!t pills"!. They put you in a state where nothing upsets you!. Xanex is very addictive (as you have seen)!. I would call your husbands doctor immediately and tell him what has gone on (including buying the pills on the street)!. You can ask him not to mention the call to your husband, but to consider changing his medication!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
My experience has shown that anti-depressants don't work!. They seem to simply act as a band aid to the real problem!. Depression is "anger turned in"!. He needs a way to express that anger!. He needs to be completely honest with himself!. What is it that makes him angry!? For some, physical activity like working out is best!. I found that writing lyrics is good therapy!. Everybody gets depressed!. He will get over it!. You both have to be patient!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Xanax is a very ADDICTIVE drug!. Sounds like you need a different doctor!. Most internal medicine doctors are NOT trained in this field!. Take him to a psychiatrist , they are more trained in depression and other serious mental issues!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
The doctor should give him more, not just cut him off!. He needs to cut back SLOWLY!. Very slowly!. I took xanax for a while for anxiety and you have to taper down the amounts you take a few weeks at a time!. Have the doctor guide him in this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm really sorry to hear about your situation sounds tough!. I hate pills & the medical profession that sells them!. especially anti depressants!. I don't have all the answers but i'll pray for you & you are more than welcome to write me if you every want to talk to some one!. I'm a 26 year old kid who has been doing volunteer work in central Europe for over 8 years!.!. i certainly don't know everything but I have a God who has a whole lot of answers!. Its obvious that he's becoming dependant in them which is never good!. These medications are not prescribed as a solution to problems just to the symptoms so when people start to have these reactions without them then they need to come of it!.
The amount he is taking is wayy to dangerous and can result in serious side effects of fatalities!. You need to take him to the doctor OR the hospital ASAP!. He may not like you for it but you will be saving his future and his life and once he recovers he will be very grateful for it!. My advice: act quick things will only get worse!.

clearly he is addicted!. You need to talk to him!.!.!.not yell or accuse him!.!.!.and see what he wants to do!.!.!.both of you should talk to the doc and see if there is another medication that is not addictive!. I would NOT purchase any from friends ever again!.!.!.!.as that is illegal and harmful to both you and your husband!. If it comes to it, you may have to lock up the meds!.!.!.!.!.I know you don't want to do that, but at some point his safety and health are more important than him getting what he wants when he wants it!. He should be dosing based on his doctors orders!. If he refuses to limit his intake, he needs to ask for an increased strength or have his dosing monitored!. NO, the doctors with their cohorts in the pharmaceutical companies want control of the drug trade and the drug profits and are like the drug dealers they are out to addict you to their often pitiful products!.
The medical doctrine of "a pill can cure everything from herpes to a mood disorder" is often making their patients into almost mindless zombies, and so indebted that the doctor's own them body and soul!. Think I jest!? I'm not, my music teacher, now 83 lives in her house by the kindness of her surgeon who now owns it and charges her a modest "rent"!.!.!.
Get your husband OFF of those drugs and away from that particular shrink immediately!. Xanex is extremely potent and causes alterations in brain function so a mildly depressed patient who could have been treated sans drugs ends up a total psychotic!.
So does Zoloft, another antidepressent that also has caused teenagers to go into a violent episode ending in murder or suicide!. The treatment is often more deadly and life destroying than the cure!.
Doctors don't care!. They make the money, that's all that matters!.
You go to a shrink, "Hey doc, I'm depressed because I lost my job" [Cure: find another and a better job]!.
Shrink "Take two Zoloft [Sertraline HCL] a day and pay the receptionist on the way out!.
Receptionist: "The bill is $450 for a 30 minute consult and intital screening fee!."
Patient: What in the hell!? I don't have insurance!?
Receptionist: Why not!?
Patient: Because I lost my job you stupid twit!.!.!.
[Receptionist calls security describing the patient as "hostile, disoriented and with homicidal tendencies!. Taken to jail by the cops for a few days, giving a hearing before a judge who confines the patient for the good of society in a state hospitial which is in some ways worse than a prison because prisoners don't have their minds erased by their drug regimen and reduced to a zombie-like existence by their mad mad mad doctors and staff!.
You see how a simple depression which could have been treated by a little self-reflection, a safe natural antidepressent like St!. John's Wort, a walk in a park and a little physical activity and job hunting ended up with a life permanently destroyed by the system supposedly created to "save" it!.
Bottom line: Doctors are not your friends!. You are the doctors' friends as YOU pay for their vacation to Tahiti, their Golf Club Membership and their 600,000 to 1!.5 million$ house in an exclusive gated community!.
The Doctors like the Drug Czars they are live high on the hog!.
And shrinks are the worst of the worst as their medical science is more flim-flam than reality!.
The proof of this is in the pudding!.
I asked a shrink once, "How many patients have you ever cured in your entire career!."
He honestly admitted the truth: Zero, he had cured not a single patient, yet has earned millions of dollars, he just "treats symptoms" often making them worse than they ever were before!.
I smiled "I suppose that is why Psychiatrists and Psychologists have the highest suicide rate of all medical professionals!."
A general surgeon can say "Today I took out the inflamed appendix of a six year old girl saving her life"
The shrink says "Today I used my medical degree to fleece another patient and her insurance company out of $2,500!."
