Hello,
I have had exactly the same problem, and know how you feel!. I am also bulimic with the associated depression that comes with it!. It CAN be beaten, so do not worry!

What you are experiencing is an associated side effect of your illnesses (both depression and the bulimia)!. Going downstairs for something and not remembering what you have gone downstairs for by the time you get there!? Yep, know what that feels like!. It sounds to me as if you are trying to do too much too soon!. Depression and bulimia are debilitating illnesses and you have to attack them one step at a time, and if you are trying on top of that to sort out a career and work part time on top of that, the memory loss is your brain's way of letting yourself know that you need to cut yourself some slack!.

Focus on one thing at a time!. The bulimia, for example- write down a list of goals and concentrate on doing something for YOU every day to take your mind off the desire to binge and purge!. writing a to do list (keep it short!) of things you want to do for YOU (go for a short walk, get out of bed abd get changed, no matter how small they are all big goals when yo uare low) will help you focus your mind on smaller, more acheivable goals!. That will help your brain recharge and also help your self esteem as if you are anything like me, you feel good seeing a list ticked off as done!

Personally, I would at the moment put the job hunting on hold for a few weeks!. I guess you probably want to change jobs to feel better, but you are already working part time and struggling with an illness so I would try and get yourself back onto an even keel before putting yourself under lots of pressure to reel off an impressive CV and go through the interview process and all that accompanies it!. You sort of answered your own question- "the more I try to sort my head out the less i seem to do"- you are putting too much pressure on yourself to fix yourself quickly!. you CAN do it, just dont beat yourself up while you do!. Take your time and look out for yourself, no one else!.

Good luck and well done on seeking help for it in the first place!.

Hope this helps!. E x

PS short term memory loss can also be made worse temporarily by taking anti depressants, which you don't mention if you are on, but if you are this could also explain why it has suddenly become more noticeable to you xWww@Answer-Health@Com

Medically, it's conceivable you have a condition in which undereating and malnutrition (heavy drinking is the other cause) affects your brain function and your short term memory begins to suffer drastically!.
But yours is not so bad, basically you are describing my memory from my entire life, so I think it's just the large amount of stress!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sorry, what was the question!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

THIS IS AGE!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMWww@Answer-Health@Com

there i fink u should stop smoking lol go see a doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

memory loss is a side effect of depression!. You should go to your doctor who will refer you onto a psychiatrist who can help you thru!. They will help find the causes of your problems, and solutions so you can carry on functioning day to day normally and enjoy life!. don't worry, there is a way thru!.
my phycologist when i was depressed did this kind of iq test, there are 4 parts of my thinking they tested!. 2 should stay normal thru out, and 2 sections of your brain decrease in ability when you are depressed, these being memory and speed of thinking!. but they return back to normal when stable againWww@Answer-Health@Com

sounds like your suffering from stress or depression!.!.

If i were you I would do the following:

1!. Go to your doctor and ask to be refered to a councillor
2!. Go to the councillor and just speak open its amazing how it can help!.
3!. Join a relaxation class, Yoga, Swim Fit, something that you can do at your own pace and will help you relax!.
4!. Dont think too much, just let things happen, if your really struggling to remember then for now carry around a little note pad and pen and makes notes!.!.!.!.
5!. REMEMBER this is only a temporary set back and YOU CAN overcome this!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.

we all have bad times some need that little extra time to deal with issues!.!.!.!.

GOOD LUCK YOU CAN BEAT THISWww@Answer-Health@Com
