First off -- if you suspect you might have bipolar disorder, then nothing will be better than a doctor's advise!. :) Seeing you face-to-face and interacting with you is the only way they'll know for sure!.

With that said, your description sounds HIGHLY like bipolar!. Many people tend to think of it as a "volatile temper" kind of thing -- someone who changes moods as quickly as pressing a button!. But really, from what I've experienced, bipolar is more like being super-sensitive to things!.

For example, a few days ago, some friends of mine planned a Memorial Day beach day, and I guess my name didn't come up in conversation, and they forgot to text me the invite to it!. When the pictures from the event popped up on facebook, I got //EXTREMELLY// upset!.!.!. as in, it took them three hours to talk me out of my resolve to stay in the rest of the summer and refuse to go if they did remember to invite me to their next outing!. Same issue when I'd fight with my then-boyfriend -- him not being able to hang out on a weekend would trigger the "He doesn't love me!. He's with me because he can't get a better girl, and he'll dump me as soon as someone else comes along" feeling!.

I find the mania stage of it is the more "random" one -- I get really hyper and happy sometimes, and I don't really have an exact reason to be like that!. :P But my sad/angry phases DO get triggered by outside events, even if my reaction tends to be a thousand times stronger than that of someone who doesn't suffer from bipolar!.

Anyway!. In conclusion, if I were you, I'd talk to a psychiatrist and tell them about this!. Don't forget to mention the hyper/happy phases -- bipolar tends to get misdiagnosed as just depression because doctors won't pay much attention to someone's "up" stage!. And not both are treated with the same medicines, in fact, depression medicines could worsen bipolar!. So make sure s/he knows about everything you're experiencing!.

And don't worry, it's a pretty common thing to have, and easily treatable!. :)

--------------------------------------!.!.!.

Addressing what ReturnOfTheFly said; there IS such a thing as "rapid cycling" bipolar, where the moods DO change rapidly!. I'd still say the asker should get a professional opinion, just to be sure!. But the rapid changing doesn't rule out bipolar!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That doesn't sound like you are bi-polar!. Everyone thinks that bi-polar people change moods from one extreme to another in an instant, but it isn't like that!. Usually you'll be happy for like a week or so and then go into a week of depression!. There are so many other mental disorders!. Go talk to a professional!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Im bipolar, and I sound JUST LIKE YOU! Im turnign 30 this year, never thought I would live to see 30! WOW! I have been on medication for a few years now, it REALLY helps! Talk to a therapist!. See for sure so you can be put on the proper medication!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
