Any Bipolars successfuly survived one year WITHOUT therapy, meds., help?!

Question: Any Bipolars successfuly survived one year WITHOUT therapy, meds!., help!?
A bipolar 1 diagnosed, unmedicated (has access to meds!. and help if desired, but wants to push self to be "normal" without the meds) person is going to move to an area without much access to the support groups and cognitive behavioral therapy usually accessible!. It will be for one year in a country he can't even express himself in since there's a massive language barrier!. There's a past history of self harm/cutting during stressful situations, current minor prescription addiction (yet the person won't take the meds!. for the actual disorder, go figure!), prior hospitalization from pathetic attempts at suicide and is currently near the border of either an episode of mania or depression that tends to last a while!. So after their episode is over what can they work on to ensure healthy survival in a foreign country with no help and limited contact with their loved ones!? i!.e!., he will only see his spouse 2x/mo b!.c!. spouse is living in a military installation in the middle of the sinai!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
yes, the meds made me way worse after taking them for a whole year and personally for me they screwed up my head!. ever since i took those stupid drugs i can't think clearly!. i was better before i took them!.

seriously, doctors tell you "need" to take them because thats what they're paid and trained to do: sell drugs!. but these drugs ARE DANGEROUS!. and have many unhealthy side effects that are long term!. the longer you take them, the more it screws you up!.

my advice: don't take the medications no mater how many people convince you that you need them!. you don't need them!. bi-polar is tough to deal with but it is not something a drugs today can fix!. theres no easy way out, you just have to cope and try and keep your mind focused on other things!. if you cant find someone to talk to, bring a diary to write your thoughts down in!. eat healthy foods and drink a lot of water too, dont eat junk food as this can make your mind in an unstable state!. drugs and alcohol can do this too so avoid them also!. i have been living a healthier lifestyle and i dont feel the effects of bipolar anymore very often, so i know it is possible to overcome it!. even in tough situations i think of the future and think positively and it helps!. best of luck to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Had bi-polar friend who went of the medication to go through a chinese herbalist approach!. It helped to a degree, but his head started twitching extremely!. The imbalance was still there, and eventually he needed to be put back on the Doctor's medication!.

As normal as they can seem sometimes, they need their medication!. Going off it can worsen the mental illness and then suffer worse effects of changing a medication that will work after going off the other one!.

Another person I know with Bi-polar always gets a travel itch, or moves house when she is leading up to a crash!. You can't tell her because she knows best!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is possible, but if the person hasn't been stable for a long period of time, it wont work!. It works when the person has been pretty stable, not injuring themselves, able to hold jobs, go to school etc without trouble!.

It this situation, I'd suggest not taking the person off medication and not moving!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

honestly!. bi-polar!.!.!.especially bi-polar 1 that goes untreated without meds is just bound to get worse, no matter how much behavioral therapy and counseling is used!. it is possible to go a year without those things, it just won't be an easy year, and when that year is up more meds and such will most likely need to be used!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No!.!.!.!.!.!.!.I`d be hospitalized after three months!. sleep deprivation, mania, and psychosis!. It`s not a good idea, ( generally speaking ), to be unmedicated!. It`s like saying, " I wonder how long a diabetic can go without insulin"!?!?The meds do have terrible side effects weight gain, tremors, etc!.!.!.but what`s the worst of two evils!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

simple answer!.!.!. once Bipolar 1 always Bipolar 1!. You are playing with your life and possible suicide!!!

TAKE THE MEDICATION UNTIL YOUR LAST DAY ON EARTH!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Stress is a common trigger!.

Moving = stress
Foreign Country = stress
Limited Communication Ability = stress
Lack of Support System = stress
Isolation = stress
Current Instability = not good sign
Progressive Illness = reality of bipolar, especially if unmedicated

Recipe for disaster, IMO!.

If he goes episodic, what's the plan!?

Options:
A!. Get on meds
B!. Don't go
C!. Chance being thrown in jail instead of hospital if manic (this can be an issue in the US where he shares the same language w/the cops,there is mental illness knowledge, and he can call someone to explain), or possibly commiting suicide if depression really sets in (not to mention if that happens in jail)!.

Sorry I can't say much positive!. I just don't see anything positive to say here!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
