What is Aspegers Syndrome?!

Question: What is Aspegers Syndrome!?
Answers:
Asperger syndrome also called Asperger's syndrome, Asperger's disorder, Asperger's or AS) is one of several autism spectrum disorders (ASD) characterized by difficulties in social interaction and by restricted, stereotyped interests and activities!. AS is distinguished from the other ASDs in having no general delay in language or cognitive development!. Although not mentioned in standard diagnostic criteria, motor clumsiness and atypical use of language are frequently reported!.

Asperger syndrome is named after Austrian pediatrician Hans Asperger who, in 1944, described children in his practice who lacked nonverbal communication skills, failed to demonstrate empathy with their peers, and were physically clumsy!. Questions about many aspects of AS remain: for example, there is lingering doubt about the distinction between AS and high-functioning autism (HFA); partly due to this, the prevalence of AS is not firmly established!. The exact cause of AS is unknown, although research supports the likelihood of a genetic basis, and brain imaging techniques have identified structural and functional differences in specific regions of the brain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A type of autism or Pervasive Developmental Disorder!.

People with Asperger's Disorder generally don't have the severe communication delays associated with most types of autism!. They have difficulty socializing with other people and often ignore social "cues" that most people take for granted like making eye contact!. They generally are preoccupied with a few subjects and may talk about them endlessly even though other people are no interested!. There may be odd mannerisms like hand flapping and OCD-like behavior!. There may be a preoccupation with wanting to touch at look at certain objects!. People with Asperger's usually have at least average intelligence, sometimes above average intelligence!.

I used to know a guy with Asberger's; he was about 20 years old at the time!. He was obsessed with monkeys!. One time somebody put out a candle and he went over and started playing with the melted wax while ignoring everybody else!. He usually didn't talk!. He might answer if you talked to him, but he wouldn't make eye contact and he would seem to be very tense and comfortable about talking!. His parents both died and last I heard he went to live with his sister because he apparently couldn't take care of himself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
