Is there such a thing as Patient's Rights?!

Question: Is there such a thing as Patient's Rights!?
The Hospitals all talk about it, but whenever I've asked not to be drugged unnecessarily, I've had to fight with them to respect my wishes!. Why don't they understand that SOME people DON'T want to be drugged when it's not necessary!?!?!?
It makes me SO mad, it's like I can't let my guard down for a second, I have to keep an eye on my IV, so something isn't slipped into it w/o my permission, and every time I've had to have surgery (unfortunately it's been quite a few times,) I've had to take a good friend or family member with me to keep an eye on the medical staff!.
I have to have surgery next month and I'm all ready exhausted from telling the Dr that I don't want to be drugged prior to having General Anesthia!. I don't care if I "remember" anything!. I want to have my wits about me when I go into the operating room and not be a zombie!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
